Who knew that our nap routine printable would be one of our most popular printables yet? So we’ve created a bedtime routine printable that looks like the nap routine, just in a different color.
Charlie’s bedtime routine has been pretty much the same since we sleep trained at 4 1/2 months. He definitely should not be getting a bedtime bottle at his age… we’re working on it. But if you need to implement a bedtime routine, this is a good place to start. I taped our bedtime routine up on the wall next to our nap routine. It definitely comes in handy when babysitters, grandparents, and even husbands put your little one to bed! Click here for a printable version that you can customize with your own information!

Oh, how I miss the simple bedtime routines. Ours used to be that way and then one day I don’t know what happened and now it goes on for 45 mins or more sometimes. More play time during his shower and then many requests for books and songs, I guess. Thankfully, for me, my husband does all of that now. LOL! But I still do the nap time routine during the weekdays which is similar minus a shower.
With the bedtime bottle, I think we just stopped one day long time ago and it was fine. Maybe you could substitute it with reading one of his favorite books so he doesn’t think about his bottle. My suggestion is to do it sooner than later b/c it may be harder the longer you wait. These little ones only get smarter and smarter I tell you! ;)

Our routine is very similar – we just started using the sleep sack with the feet holes and it keeps him warm but still able to move around. Do you use the one with the feet?
The other night my husband decided to lie on the floor thinking Jack would just go to sleep with him still in the room – it was a fail then he cried when dad tried to get out and it took him 30 minutes to go to sleep :(

@erwoo: sometimes when charlie refuses his bottle, we read books and he always wants to read more. so i know that day is coming! but for now he still goes down like a champ every night and i don’t want to mess with it. :)
@Mama Ek: we use the regular sleep sack without feet. an added bonus is that he can’t climb out of his crib. charlie will actually sleep if we stay in his room and hold his hand while lying on the floor. i did it once recently when he was sick, and mr. bee did it too when charlie didn’t want to nap!

That is pretty much exactly our bedtime routine! We try to start around 6:30 now, but he resists bedtime now so it takes a few minutes to convince him to go up the stairs. Plus if he’s not too cranky we’ll wait til about 7… so I guess 7pm is actually our time too!
We also stuck with the regular sleep sack with no feet. It does prevent them trying to climb out of the crib, and I don’t understand why sleep sacks need feet for toddlers– RJ never wears his outside the crib.
Our bedtime routine has always been the same, and it is definitely a soothing one– we turn on the white noise and nightlight when we start, before he even goes for his bath, and then right after we get him all dressed and zipped into his sleep sack we turn off the light right away and go to the glider and give him his blankie. After goodnight kisses, I just hold him and rock in the glider in the darkness, pray, sing 3 songs and then I put him in his crib.
When he gets older I’m sure we’ll implement the bedtime stories / books, but our routine works great and he goes down without a fight every night (unless he’s sick) so we’re sticking with it!
(When he’s sick, we lie on the floor next to his crib til he’s asleep, too!)

thank you for this! we will definitely be implementing some sort of routine. I have too many friends who don’t have any set routines & man-oh-man.
