Hello again, everyone! Today I’m sharing the other option we considered for our future daughter’s nursery. For this look, I wanted a clean and contemporary color palette, but not too girlie. I wanted the femininity of the room to come through in the details, from the graphic florals of the wallpaper, to the soft shape of the white dove accent decor pieces, to the organic shape of the lamp. To keep it modern, the feminine details are paired with chevrons and stripes to give it a bold edge. We were assuming that we’d end up creating custom artwork for this room as well, but like on the Playful & Patterned inspiration board, we’d using typographic print inspiration.
While we didn’t ultimately choose this board, I still love it! It’s a great gender-neutral option for those who are on Team Green, but can also swing more on the boy’s side with a change of wallpaper and a different clock or lamp option.

I was just going to say that this looks similar to the first inspiration board, but then again… it’s your “choices” for the nursery so it makes sense.
I LOVE yellow in nurseries, but Orange is not common. I think you have 2 great options and I love the textures you added to it. My guess would be option 1

Beautiful choices! But oh, how I wish it were possible to read or hear about nursery decor (or baby clothing) without all these references to gender. Sure, I might decorate a nursery in a feminine or masculine way if I’m feeling that vibe for the room, the way I might do the same for a guest bedroom or bathroom, but hopefully I would not base that on the gender of the child. I would never want to raise a child surrounded by hints of expectations for some gender role he/she is supposed to adhere to way, way before puberty is even in the picture! Growing kids are under enough pressure as it is to fill roles that others expect them to, without someone else deciding for them how girly or masculine they should feel.

I totally agree. We’re not a family that’s huge on absolutes in gender identity; my husband was a metrosexual before the term was coined and he loves rocking pink; I was a big tomboy growing up. However, I want a room that will grow with our daughter (so I won’t be redecorating every year), and the reality is that girls will be girls, and boys will be boys. My two nephews who are both barely toddlers already tend towards trucks and the like, and I know as a little girl I refused to wear anything but hyper girlie skirts and made my parents buy everything in pink.
The little one is welcome to redo her room as she wants when she figures out who she is, but again, I agree with you. That’s why you’ll notice that although they’re feminine, the boards aren’t over the top with lace or bows. I see them more as a modern blank canvas that she can grow into and, in turn, it can grow with her.
