Today’s nursery is inspired by a reader request. Here’s what Mediagirl, the momma-to-be, said:
How would you feel about putting together some ideas for a nautical nursery for a girl? I’m afraid it will get too “boyish” if we use too much blue and I’m not sure what accent colors to use, other than white. We are going with white nursery furniture and have purchased the economical Gulliver crib. Let me know if you have other questions. I’d love to see what you would come up with!
I liked the idea of putting a non-traditional spin on nautical by adding a pink and magenta to the color palette to add a little more feminine flair (as requested!). I also added a little bit of depth to the color palette by layering in a soft, slightly dusty aqua color to the color palette. Some nautical accents were added in, but I didn’t want to go too overboard with it. Instead, I pulled out some very graphic patterns as a nod to the patterning on nautical bunting, and paired them with quieter sea-inspired decor. Hope everyone loves it!

@mediagirl: glad you like it! Isn’t the bunting adorable?!
@tequiero21: you can put it together without an interior design degree! The only one I hold is in graphic design
@Mrs. Bee: thanks so much
I don’t typically put those colors together, but I think it works REALLY well for a nursery!

@tequiero21: oh, and yes, you hang it as decor! In my head, it’s above the crib or changing table!

Thought about doing a navy/pink nursery for my girl, but ended up with grey/pink/brown.
And I was just looking at the lacquer tray from West Elm today!
