As a New Yorker, I’m all too familiar with not having enough closet space. That’s why I’m loving the trend of open clothing racks in children’s nurseries. Plus babies’ clothing is so adorable, it’s worthy of display!

How do you deal with lack of closet space in the nursery?

This is one of those things that I love in theory, but practically, the last thing I would want to do as a tired mom is have to neatly hang every piece of Baby Y’s wardrobe on a hanger and line them up perfectly, etc. I’m so glad I can just dump his stuff in a drawer and call it a day!
Maybe I would feel differently if he was sporting designer duds, but pressing and hanging cotton onesies from Old Navy would just feel silly :)

I like it for display/storage of play or dress up clothing. I think a dress on a hanger looks sweet in a girls room, but for every day, it’s a tough act to follow, not to mention my son would pull it down constantly!

We have some beautiful clothes that I’d love to show off all the time, so I think this is a great idea… but we also have a small closet, so we could hide all that everyday stuff.

These rooms are all so pretty! I’m glad we have a decent sized closet in the nursery, though, because we need all the storage we can get! I still have my wedding dress and some other special occasion clothes in the nursery closet because a baby only needs so much clothing storage. I do plan on putting up some hooks and hanging a couple of exra cute things outside the closet, though.

I haven’t used baby hangers since DS was born. We have a few of his older outfits that didn’t fit hung up, but for the most part everything goes into his dresser! We try to limit how much clothing he has so we aren’t over run with it, and he gets to wear what we do buy more than a few times, so that helps as well. They are adorable though! I agree that hanging baby clothes is incredibly cute and handy if you don’t have a lot of closet space. It’s probably more useful for girls when you are buying dresses though.

I especially love the ones hung on tree branches. It might be nice for hanging a few special items.

I don’t think I could keep a nursery looking that neat.

I agree that it’s cool in theory but I can just imagine having to constantly pick clothes up off the floor because LO has yanked them down – she does that now with the clothes in her closet but at least I can shut the closet door and deal with it later. Plus, I think the rainbow of clothing colors would make it look cluttered if not managed correctly. Most of LO’s clothes are in dresser drawers and are out of sight :)

I like the look of it, but in reality i like to have an actual closet door, so that I dont have to work hard on keeping it so neat and organized all the time.

I love the pics you posted, but I could not keep everything so tidy and nice-looking. We did use books as decor, DH put several shelves (basically just stained 2x4s) up on the walls and we stand the books up facing out. Inspired by pinterest :)

I now wish I lived in the city, so that I could make DH build me an exposed closet. SO pretty! and ORGANIZED?! SWOOOON

I had to do an open closet concept in my nursery as well, we used shower curtains to cover the babies (and my!) clothes :)

I have a closet in the nursery and to this day have never used it to hang baby clothes. Not for my son nor for my daughter. So on the one hand, maybe hanging a few pieces for display would be great…but on the other hand…maybe hanging a few pieces for display would be unrealistic.
Regardless — beautifully staged shots. Also. That mirrored rocker in the first picture is my most favorite piece of furniture I have ever seen. I posted about it once on FLOR I loved it so much!

off topic, but I love that rocker in the first photo! does anyone know where it’s from?
