My inlaws and father were in the waiting room while I was pushing too. DH and my mom were with me in the room. My MIL kept trying to get to my room to find out what was happening, but they could all hear much more than they needed to during the last hours of my labor and delivery.

I too wanted to give up while pushing. I feel a little ashamed that I kept saying I couldn't do it and to just cut him out of me. But labor is labor and I managed to get him out after 3 hours of pushing. I do wish my inlaws and father hadn't heard everything, because they kept making comments for a few weeks after DS was born. I could have lived without hearing them say they thought I was seriously dying and on the brink of an emergency C-Section (which I wasn't).

The stitching up was close to the worst part for me too. At least 30 minutes, and it was incredibly painful. I had to give DS back to the nurses and needed DH to hold my hands and help me breath through the pain of the stitches, which was more than he had done for me during labor. While I was actually in labor I mostly just wanted to be left alone.
