It has been so exciting trying to decide what Baby Squiggles would wear for the holidays. I have so many outfits I could have chosen from, but ultimately narrowed it down to five that are also easy to mix and match. I chose a couple that are more “untraditional” styles that would be appropriate for church services, family get togethers, holiday parties and other events rather than simply Christmas.
Outfit One
bow tie: DIY, chambray shirt: old navy, red skinnies: H&M
I am loving chambray; it is next on my personal fashion “to-buy” list. When I found this shirt in Baby Squiggle’s size at Old Navy on Black Friday for only $5 – I couldn’t pass it up! He looks so cute in it. Paired with some red skinnies from H&M, it is not a traditional Christmas style – but it is festive, bright and fun! Chambray is a big “it” item right now, so be sure to check out other chambray styles offered at Gap, and Crew Cuts in Toddler-Boy sizes. Skinnies at H&M are a pretty constant item, but I didn’t see them on their site so it might only be offered in stores, or they might not be selling them at this time. But I found these adorable red corduroy trousers from Zara, albeit not quite as cheap as H&M ($10 for the red skinnies), less than $20 isn’t too shabby for some cute, special occasion pants for your little man.
Outfit Two
bow tie: DIY, sweater vest: Carters, Oxford shirt: Baby Gap, red skinnies: H&M
Unfortunately this adorable grey sweater vest isn’t available at Carters anymore. It is such a versatile piece that I also got him one to wear for next winter. These red skinnies have become a favorite of mine; you wouldn’t think red pants would be so versatile but they go with everything and add a wonderful splash of color. I cannot rave about the H&M skinnies enough. They run big, but with an adjustable waist and the ability to cuff them – I know they will be fitting Baby S for many, many months.
I haven’t been able to find anything quite like the button-up grey sweater vest but at the rate they sold out, I’m going to take a wild guess that Carters will be bringing them back next year. In the meantime, I love this dress vest from Janie and Jack that also happen to be on sale.
Outfit Three
bow tie: DIY, sweater vest: Old Navy, Oxford shirt: Baby Gap, red skinnies: H&M
Black and red together is so festive; it’s a bold contrast that works beautifully. This outfit would be just as cute without the bow tie. I scored this adorable sweater vest post-Christmas last year before Baby S was even born – so it’s not available anymore but this black and red argyle vest would be a cute substitution.
Outfit Four
sweater vest: Old Navy, Oxford shirt: baby Gap, Khaki cords: The Children’s Place
Mmm I love me some cords on the bebe! They are so grown up and absolutely adorable. These cords from TCP are even doubly amazing because of the soft banded knit-waist. I hate when I take his jeans or pants off and there are marks on his perfect skin from the waist band digging in; knit waists are a wonderful invention. The cords were an end-season clearance item from the outlet, but I love the cords offered at Zara right now, and check out this colorful teal pair – too cute! Baby Boden has some adorable knee-patch knit-waisted cords that also come in girl colors, some plain colored cords, and some in 18 mos+.
This basic oxford bodysuit is so versatile – we have only one but I wish we had a second one because Baby S wears it with everything. Although this exact bodysuit isn’t available, it’s pretty easy to find a basic white dress shirt; check out Zara’s oxford, TCP has an oxford shirt, and Crew Cuts offers one in Toddler-Boy sizes.
Outfit Five
sweater vest: Carters, plaid shirt: The Children’s Place, Khaki cords: The Children’s place
I love plaid on babies. It’s a fun pattern that is easy to dress up or down and adds visual interest to any outfit. Children’s Place has several plaid shirts in various colors, Carters has both red, green and other colors, Baby Gap has a bodysuit style red checkered top, and Boden has a super cute one for toddlers and boys.
Now onto SHOES! Baby Squiggles isn’t the biggest fan of my photo shoots; he is a mover and a shaker so I had to bribe him with Christmas ornaments to sit pretty. The shoes obviously never made it into the shoot. After some research I realized that my favorite shoes of his aren’t available online! I am so disappointed. We have the cutest pair of RuggedBear fur-lined moccasin style shoes that I scored on Zulily, however none of the RB retailers have the shoes online. How about these adorable Minnetonka Moccasins instead, or Robeez boots? For a more “practical” shoe I highly recommend some Pedipeds. It’s one of the few brands of shoes we’ve tried on that stay on my little guy’s feet.
What is your little man wearing for the holidays?
disclaimer: It is getting so much harder to take quality pictures on these dreary sunless days! I apologize for my photos that are not up to par! Also – I thought that my baby would be fitting 6-12/9-12 by now (he’s 9.5 mos) but he’s not, so I apologize that half the outfits are too big! oops!

@scsgalexander: that’s what I love too! I didn’t have to buy anything specifically for Christmas, I pulled what I had on hand. The only “new” thing is the bow tie, which I hand-made and cost less than a $1!
@luckypenny: ugh I just cannot decide! thankfully we have three events to go to next week :)

A lot of my friends say little boys’ clothes are not as cute as little girls’. I just need to send them this post to prove that wrong!
Great outfits! And he is adorable.

I can’t help but notice what a perfect little model Cobi is! There is no way my LO would sit still and stay calm for pictures. It’s a challenge just putting clothes on him!

There are so many fabulous items in here! Spencer will be rocking an outfit he picked himself. One that makes him look fourteen, not four. Oh, my mama heart breaks a little!
