@808love: Thanks for the encouragement….LO went poop & pee today & yesterday, so I understand it will take time when there’s a strike. I am just glad to hear that the 3 day training can work. By the way…I was looking at your screen name, are you from HI? I am, I live in Kona.

Good post! I hope there won’t be any regressions when little sib arrives. We had a bad potty regression when M. came, but then again Lala was only 21 months, so it was to be expected!

@808love: Even though it’s only a short period of time (3 days, 5 days, a week), it can be really draining so you’re right, support is everything. This method seems to be really popular on HB. Not surprising because it seems to work really well!

@Andrea: Yes, I think starting even earlier may have worked out for DD but I wanted to do it on one of my breaks from school. We had visitors at 15 months, at 18 months we went on a trip so I waited until my next break.

Since DH and sitter’s support was critical for follow up, I had to be sure they were ‘ready’ too. I didn’t realize their attitudes and resistance would be a slight obstacle. Potty training at this age makes people act funny and say ‘oh you have plenty of time, what’s the rush?’ or ‘she’s stressed, that’s why she caught a cold or was fussy’. But seriously, if you and your child are physically and mentally ready, you just have to ‘go for it’ and convince people to take it seriously. So anyway, I’m glad to hear from some like minded bees. Before HB, it was all just ideas in a book. I liked reading the blogs about people recently going through the 3 day experience for encouragement.

@sloaneandpuffy: The thought has crossed my mind, but I do think she’s really gotten the hang of it. It has almost been a month and she’s had no accidents at home and only a few at daycare, probably because she’s too busy playing or the teacher could not take her to the bathroom right away.

@Mrs. Cowgirl: yes! I re-read your blog a few times before doing our 3 days. :-D

@808love: wow, I didn’t know your DD was trained at night so early on. Amazing! I will probably try the 3 day method earlier with DD2, around 18-20 months, like you!

@Teachermama: we did part time EC and then had to take a break for about a month around the same age because she started a potty strike. Not a complete failure, just a pause. Dd remained dry at night after 1 year though so we did andrea’s 3 day method at 20 mos and it totally worked. It has been 3 months now…still going!

I was curious if there’s any mamas who tried EC but failed? I am doing it with my 13 mo old, but it’s slow. We catch most poops because they are easier but not all pees. I am thinking of surrendering and waiting till he can talk to me, since he hasn’t been consistently doing the sign language, he tells me after the fact that he made pee or poop and not before.

Just curious if you’re worried about regression once your second babe arrives? A lot of people told me not to bother potty training with another on the way….
