Both Charlie and Olive were newborns in the winter months, so I had severely chapped hands from the excessive hand washing and cold weather. I’ve tried a bunch of different hand creams to keep the dryness away, and my current favorite is Weleda’s Skin Food. No matter what you use, I’ve found that the best remedy for dry, chapped hands is to slather them with your cream of choice before bed, and wear cotton gloves overnight. You typically see a huge improvement in just one night!
Here is a roundup of some of the best hand creams:
1) Dr. Hauschka Hand Cream // 2) Coconut Oil // 3) Jurlique Rose Hand Cream // 4) L’Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream // 5) Soap & Glory Hand Food // 6) Eucerin Dry Skin Therapy Plus Intensive Repair Hand Creme // 7) Kiehl’s Ultimate Strength Hand Salve // 8) Aquaphor // 9) Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Hand Cream // 10) Cetaphil Therapeutic Hand Cream // 11) Vanicream // 12) Bliss Glamour Gloves // 13) Weleda Skin Food

I’m a huge Weleda fan (as I’m sure anyone on the boards probably groans when I weigh in on lotions!) For mamas, I use your #4 like it’s going out of style :)

Udder cream and working hands are great for those with severe dry chapped almost bleeding hands.

CeraVe Cream!
Cream not the lotion.
My dad’s dermatologist recommended it and now my entire family swears by the stuff. I used to have hands so dry they would crack and bleed. So happy I found this stuff.

I use Cetaphil lotion and cream (but not the hand cream) for just about everything! It even fixes chapped lips.

My sister turned me onto Cerave as well. Her whole family uses it and they have very sensitive skin/eczema/etc

We use this fancy blue IC lotion at work (lots of chapped hands from glove wearing and hand washing). I’ve found nothing works so well, and best of all, it’s not greasy!

We discovered Cerave and Vanicream when we were dealing with DD’s eczema issues her first year of life. I love them both, but we use Vanicream more because it’s thicker and it comes with a pump. Coconut Oil is great too!
I am a huge fan of L’occitane, but don’t buy it often because of its pricetag.

I suffer from dry skin that cracks in the winter. literally, it will crack in front of your eyes. so i live by “bag of balm” these days. everything else just hurts to put on! (in the warmer/humid weather i love #4 though!)

I love #9 and #6 on your list – they work and they don’t have any smell. I can’t tolerate most fragrances.

I use Aveda’s hand cream religiously. I’ve tried so many, but always come back to it.

L’Occitane is my favorite!
For my face, I use Cerave, both the lotion and the cream (depending on the time of year!).

I’m a fan of The Body Shop’s hemp hand cream. I have extremely dry hands as well, and love how well this absorbs and isn’t oily! I’m not a fan of oily lotions/creams. A little also goes a long way!
