I love making gifts for people because they are so much more personalized and special. Not to mention it is generally cost effective. There are so many great tutorials out there (thank you pinterest!) that are easy to follow and do-able with minimal DIY skills. For friends that have girls, making headbands is my go-to. Hellobee has a gorgeous sequin tutorial that has been a favorite and one mama I made it for claimed it for herself instead!
Here are my favorite DIY’s for gifts:
1. Drum 2. Bow tie/Hair bow 3. Wood Camera 4. Minky baby blanket 5. Baby leggings 6. Burp cloths 7. Cloth blocks 8. Playdough (great for older kids!) 9. Growth Chart 10. Felt Play Food 11. Baby to-go bags 12. Cloth Blocks 13. Baby hat 14. Baby shoes (for the tutorial click on the cloth shoes link on the right side bar)
What are your favorite DIY gifts?

These are all so cute! I love little drawstring bags and I make playdough all the time. I want to try that sweet blanket but I am afraid of sewing with minky– have you tried it?

I’ll probably never make these since I cant sew, but these are fabulous!

@Cole: yes! I have made the blanket about 4 times – it’s one of my go-to baby gifts now You just need a really good needle and a walking foot so that the minky doesn’t slip and bunch up. LOTS of pins as you sew are really helpful too. And honestly none of the blankets have been “perfect” but it’s hard to tell let me know if you try it!
@locavore_mama: hahaha. I hear ya! I’ve made five of these – I’m trying to commission DH to make the camera! I also had planned to make the drum but finding leather is actually really hard.

@Mrs. Pen: I want to try the camera and drum but yeah was wondering where you find leather??

I’ve had those drums pinned for the longest… a friends lo is turning 1 in a couple weeks, maybe I’ll actually make one for him! (as soon as I find where to get leather…..) lol

I love all of these! I was given a sewing machine when I was younger and so wish I knew how to use it. Maybe I can take a class or something… You’ve got me excited!

@mrs. tictactoe: I had no idea that was yours! ha! awesome I am still waiting on DH to make it
@Mrs. Deer: hehe you’re so cute. Pretty much all of these projects were chosen for their easiness. I sew a lot but am still very much a beginner! I also don’t have patience for time-consuming projects

Great ideas! These seem doable even for a not so crafty person like me. I also have a sewing machine I have no idea how to use. I bought it with the best of intentions I swear!
