More often called “booties,” but that just sounds like baby booties or maybe even something from a storybook, so short boots or ankle boots is what I’m calling them. They are the boot for fall. They come in tons of shapes, sizes and styles, so everyone can find a style that suits them, no problem. A few weeks ago I got a reader request (so sorry it’s taken me, a few weeks) to share a few ideas on how to wear fall’s “it” boot. It took me a while, but I wrapped up (in a pretty little package) a few of my favorite tips and tricks on how to wear that cute ankle boot you’ve been eyeing.
Pair with a pencil skirt: the proportions are perfect and it’s such a great mix of dress and casual. A simple pair of tights is great for underneath, or if you can go bare legs or maybe a pair of cute patterned socks (I like to keep them a bit slouchy so only a bit peeks out of the boot). varsity jacket . long sleeve tee . skirt . socks
Pair with a thick pair of leggings: as long as they are the thick kind (no see thru pants) and your top is long enough to cover your rear bits, you will instantly have a chic outfit that is uber comfy. varsity jacket . long sleeve tee . leggings
Ankle boots really can go with everything, and they can look as chic or as casual as you like. With dresses or skirts, there are no length rules (mini, midi or maxi) – not like tall boots where you have to be careful. With pants they need to be slim or skinny, so the opening of your pants is the same or smaller than the boot opening. If the length of your pants is giving you headaches when you try to wear short boots, check out these tutorials from The Daybook and Cottons & Curls on how to make your pants the right ankle boot length.
Four really great everyday ankle boots that are in the pretty affordable price range. If you are going to buy a single pair of ankle boots this season, one of these very versatile and affordable pairs might be for you.
