Christmas is less than 2 weeks away (I have my shopping just about done), so today the bloggers are sharing what they’re gifting their little ones — something they want, something they need, something to wear, and something to read!

Mrs. Garland – 11 Months

Want: Jackson loves playing with the walker at daycare, but we don’t have one at home yet. I love this wooden one from Ikea!

Need: We really need to get one of these cute bathtub spout covers. Jackson is all over the place in the bathtub lately and is fascinated with the faucet. I just know one of these days he’s going to hurt himself!

Wear: We’re desperate for more socks in our house right now. I’ve had a surprisingly hard time finding socks with grippy bottoms (he’s on the verge of walking, so non-slip is a necessity!), and Jackson is constantly pulling his socks off and losing them in random places – I found one in one of my pans the other night while I was cooking dinner!

Read: I’m obsessed with these babylit board books right now – they’re so cute and classic, and Jackson loves the illustrations! I want to get him the whole set eventually.

Mrs. Chocolate – Juliet, 1

Want: Juliet loves books but she also adores music and dancing. Her big gift will be this mp3 player.

Need: Juliet’s therapist recommended this piggy bank for her to help with fine motor skills so I’ll probably get her that.

Wear: Christmas PJs. Drake picked out this pair for her.

Read: I always get books and goodness knows Juliet loves them: Furry Friends (Touch and Feel) and Peekaboo Farm (Touch and Feel Action Flap).

Mrs. Tiger – D, 1

This is more of a wish list. I tend to get them little to nothing for xmas since they are showered with gifts from every direction!

Want – This ferry boat combines his love of baths + love of things with wheels.

Need – Some decorations for his room – still untouched!

Wear – Early walker shoes. Hand me downs aren’t cutting it and he’s not ready for hard soles yet.

Read – Vehicle books

Mrs. Oatmeal – 16 Months

Want: K doesn’t really have a ‘want’ list for this holiday; she’s too young to understand the concept. But I know she would love some bath toys, like these.

Need: A replacement lovey – her Sleep Sheep goes with her everywhere, and it’s getting worn out.

Wear: Sweatshirts for day care. They are so comfy and practical – I’m a sucker for a baby in a hoodie! I love this one from Osh Kosh.

Read: Books are our current obsession. We love Sandra Boynton, and I’d like to get her this Little Pookie box set!

Mrs. Pom Pom – Roman, 18 months

Want- beanbag chair
Need – Zara winter coat
Wear – Bobux winter boots
Read- Walk This World (He’s getting more interested in these types of lift the flap books!)

Mrs. Carrot – Ruby, 1.5

Our wants and needs are mom and dad at this point since baby hasn’t figured out what she wants just yet.

Want: A table and chair set for the nursery.

Need: A book display stand. This is a current favorite but I’m hoping to find something a little more generic that can be reused around the house.

Wear: I have a crush on all things Baby Gap right now. Some favorites: twinkle lights tee and penguin tee.

Read: I have a mile long list of books for her on a wish list. A few favorites: Walk this World, My First Computer, Disney Nursery Rhymes.

Mrs. Chipmunk – Winter – 18 months

Want: Have you seen these giant Squishables in person? They are so big! While I’m the first to admit we do not need any more stuffed animals, this giant french toast pillow thing is pretty awesome. Other cute food options include cupcake, a cinnamon bun, and a waffle.

Need: An extra convertible car seat. While my little one is still very little – in the 25th percentile for height and weight, she will soon outgrow her infant car seat. Right now we have one convertible and one infant seat to split between the cars my husband and I drive, as well as two friends with children that watch Winter during the week. An extra convertible seat for under $50? That’s cheaper than many of the used seats on craigslist! A car seat clinic technician at my local baby classes recommended the affordable Evenflo carseats wholeheartedly from a price standpoint, and says that no car seat is “safer” than any other car seat because it really all depends on if it’s correctly installed for your specific vehicle.

Wear: I’ve been a huge fan of Supayana since her days living in Brooklyn and selling jersey knit gorgeousness on ebay. Now she lives in Montreal and sells cute handmade children’s clothes on Etsy. She has fabric printed with original illustrations, and oh, did you see the fox leggings? You can certainly get baby-and-me matching fox leggings.

Read: At my most recent visit to a brick and mortar bookstore I saw Countablock. I feel like a quantity on the page corresponding to the tactile die-cut numbers is even better than the Alphablock predecessor that I have been eyeing.

Mrs. Lion – 21 Months

Want – We got an amazing deal on this awesome climber on Craigslist this fall, and since little Lion is so young he will never know the difference. We spent the majority of our Christmas budget on this! He will get to enjoy it all through the fall, and I get to enjoy that he has something to climb on at home that isn’t the stairs or the furniture!

Need – Toddler backpack. Little Lion doesn’t really require much space in my diaper bag anymore, and with a new baby on the way it will be much easier if he has his own bag, especially for church/gym childcare/preschool. I am going to attempt to make one of these DIY drawstring backpacks!

Wear – Warm Jacket. This year I anticipate lots of playing outside, even when the temps get cooler. Little Lion is definitely going to need a warmer jacket than he has needed in the past!

Read- Little Lion loves all things trucks, so I would love to get him a book like this one to enjoy.

Mrs. Blue – Elliot, 21 months

Want: Train set! I think both boys will love playing with trains.

Need: Snow boots! Playing outside is a must for our sanity, so we NEED a way to do that in all weather.

Wear: Since neither of our boys have mastered the art of staying covered at night, fleece-footed pajamas are a life saver. I bought these on sale at Carter’s recently to save a few more dollars in the Christmas budget.

Read: Cars and Trucks and Things That Go

Mrs. Blue – Finn, 21 months

Want: I’ve been watching for a used play kitchen that is in good condition at our local kid’s second-hand store and on craigslist. We just want something small but that will give them a little area to play kitchen since they love the ones at the gym and our friends’ homes.

Need: Snow boots.

Wear: Fleece-footed pajamas!

Read: The Circus Ship

Mrs. Rabbit – 22 Months

Want – We scored a pay kitchen at a yard sale for $20 (crazy, awesome deal, right?!), but now we need to fill that sucker up with some food! I’m a huge fan of Melissa and Doug, so some fruits and veggies would be an excellent addition for her kitchen.

Need – This girl is growing up and she needs the undies to grow with her!

Wear – I’d love to transition some of her summer clothes into winter (and winter into summer) and a jean jacket would be an awesome way to do that.

Read – I got a kick out of personalized books when I was younger, so I hope this would be something that could grow with her. Plus, with a new baby on the way, it’d be nice to give her a reminder about how special she is. “On the Night You Were Born” – a personalized book.

Mrs. Tea Cup – 2 years old

Want – Play food. We have a small selection of wooden foods of various brands and it is not holding up. So I asked what Lil’ Tea Cup thought of this plastic set from Learning Resources. She replied “Santa?” so I am thinking this is a good pick for her!

Need – New crayons…does that count as a need? If you knew my little one you would probably say yes.

Wear – Lil’ Tea Cup needs a new snow suit. I had purchased her one on clearance last year but it is way too short already. I like this one from Old Navy.

Read – Big sister books! With Lil’ Tea Pot on his way right around Christmas, I think some big sister books are in order.

Mrs. High Heels – Jaren, 2

Want – A Lego City set. He is obsessed with legos and putting things together. We have random lego pieces, but a set like this with little humans would provide him hours of fun.

Need – Pants. He’s still mostly wearing shorts because it doesn’t get that cold in CA til Nov/Dec. Because he has a round belly he needs a bigger size, but the lengths of his legs don’t match the size, so these pants with the roll-up option would be perfect for him.

Wear – Christmas PJ’s – Can’t wait to put them in matching PJ’s like this one!

Read – Llama Llama Holiday Drama

Mrs. Wagon – Little Miss Wagon, 2

Want: Dress up clothing trunk
Need: Metal water bottle for daycare
Wear: hat and mittens (in the stocking)
Read: Sofia the First books

Mrs. Tricycle – 2

Want: Balls. Any kind. Whenever we ask him what he wants for presents, he says balls. He’s obsessed with them. All kinds. We have balls all over our house – golf, soccer, basketball, tennis, etc. We literally keep them in five gallon buckets. I don’t want to buy more balls, but that’s what the kid has requested. So I thought I’d try these, with hopes that the new baby will get some use out of them, too.

Need: Toddler Trampoline – This might seem like a want, but my kid has sooo much energy, and with a new baby and Upstate NY winters, we NEED anything that gets the wiggles out.

Wear: SnowStopper mittens. The Trikester’s hands get cold, but he always tugs his mittens off quickly. I’ve been looking for ones with super long cuffs, and I think these will do the trick.

Read: I wish I had a more exciting title, but I’m falling back on an oldie but goodie — Kitten’s First Full Moon. He’s OBSESSED with the moon and animals, so it seems like a logical combination for a winner.

Mrs. Pinata – 2.5

Want: Thankfully Little Pinata doesn’t know yet that Christmas is a time to ask for things. This Lightning McQueen Power Wheels is DEFINITELY not a need, but we got it used for $20 and we’re pretty sure when he sees it he will definitely want it!

Need: Little Pinata is crazy fast when he runs around these days, but our house is pretty much all hardwood and tile, so he has been slipping quite a bit! We got him these slippers to keep his feet warm and to keep him from falling all over the place.

Wear: He’s also in need of socks, so we’re getting him some cute, patterned socks too.

Read: Little Pinata is REALLY into Winnie the Pooh right now, we’d love to add some of these books to his collection. This collection looks like a great combo of Pooh books!

Mrs. Pen – 2.5

Want: I asked him what he wants and he said a red garbage truck. He already has four or five garbage trucks, so I asked him to pick something else and he said a police car. So we’ll be getting him this.

Wear: He doesn’t need new clothes at this point, but knowing him, he would love this firetruck shirt.

Need: Bedding. We’ll be transitioning him to his toddler bed probably around his third birthday, now that he’s figured out how to climb out of his crib. I absolutely adore this vintage airplane sheet set and I know he would too – he loves all things planes, trains, trucks, etc.

Read: He loves reading so his book wishlist is a mile long. But one of his (and mine!) favorite series is Charlie and Lola – he adores them.

Mrs. Paintbrush – Pint-Sized Picasso, 2.5 years

Want: He’s in love with Duplos right now. And while we need no more… it’s what he points at! He’d love this set.

Need: He’s got very advanced fine motor skills, so we plan to build on that while introducing him to some more montessori skills. He’ll be finding this threading buttons and spools under the tree. And I’d LOVE for him to find something like this Learning Resources Sorting Pie or this Montessori Color Sorting Task under there too…

Wear: Yup. He’s getting hats and mittens too.

Read: He’s obsessed with the “Pout-Pout Fish” so we will buy him one or two more books from the series. Smile, Pout-Pout Fish, Sweet Dreams, Pout-Pout Fish

Mrs. Confetti – Colin: 2.5

Want: I am relishing in the magical stage where Colin is too young to understand “wants” for the holidays. This kid “wants” for nothing – we are truly lucky in that regard. For the holidays, we are getting a family pass to our local children’s museum, since it will be a great outlet for energy burning in the cold winter months.

Need: New sneakers and winter boots – so much growing over here!

Wear: Snow pants! This little dude LOVES shoveling snow (if only he was effective!)

Read: It’s hard to just pick one or two, but right now, I’m focused on a few good books that promote sharing, which is a perennial challenge with the small set. I find that using books to teach lessons is easier when tackling the issues with known and loved characters. We love Llama Llama books and the Mo Willams Elephant and Piggie series, so these books will likely be among C’s small stash of Hanukkah gifts.

Mrs. Tic Tac Toe – Liam: 2.5

Want: Bruder firetruck
Need: harder puzzles
Wear: Bathrobe
Read: The Polar Express

Mrs. Stroller – Little M – 3 years

Want – A fire truck and fire house. We are giving him a hand-me-down wooden fire truck and fire house from Land of Nod that was well loved. Mr. Stroller has repaired all the broken pieces and it just needs a little touch-up paint before it will be ready for the tree.

Need – With his birthday and Christmas less than two weeks apart, we don’t have the luxury of saving most “needs” for gifts unless those needs arrive in the later fall. In the past few weeks I discovered that he needs an easier to manage lunch box system for preschool, so I ordered an OmieBox, which I hope arrives in time for gift giving.

Wear – Since M is snow’s biggest fan, he’s getting a few pairs of SmartWool socks in his stocking. We’re huge fans of SmartWool socks in this house! To go along with the fire truck theme, he’ll also get fire truck PJs.

Read – Over the summer I bought several winter and snow themed books used on Amazon when demand was low and the selection of “excellent” condition 99 cent winter books was high. We had been reading The Red Sled and The Polar Express every single sweltering night this summer and I wanted a few more “snow” books to choose from. But we decided to save most of them for gifts.

Mrs. Tiger – K, 3

Want – More puzzles omg, he’s obsessed. Melissa & Doug Deluxe 100-Piece Rainforest Floor Puzzle and Ravensburger Wild Jungle 100 Piece Puzzle.

Need – Swim classes and a rashguard.

Wear – Big boy underwear – woo hoo potty training is over!

Read – Animal books. Goodnight Gorilla and Laughing Giraffe.

Mrs. Train – Lilly, 3

We don’t generally follow the want, need, wear, read guidelines. Usually we buy them one large present and then a few smaller things and stocking stuffers. I tried to fit some of the things we were considering into these categories though.

Want: Last year we bought the Calico Critters town home and this year Lilly wants to add some pieces and families to her collection. We might get her the tree house and a family to go with it.

Need: I can’t find sheets with Lilly’s favorite Princess on them so I am considering buying this Aurora material and making a sheet set for her myself.

Wear: She loves wearing dresses but is very particular about the texture and fit. We might try to get her a fun dress like this one.

Read: Lilly has been begging me for this book for months. When we earn a trip to the book store I usually buy the small $3-4 paperbacks not big hard backs, so I have had this on her Christmas list for awhile. We have read it in the book store and checked it out from the library, but she has always wanted a copy for herself. She loves Pinkalicious and when you add a unicorn in its even better.

Mrs. Bee – Olive, 3

Want – Olive asked Santa for a cat doll, and I ordered this custom one from MikoDesign with some adorable cat accessories. She also wanted Princess Playdoh after somehow finding the Disney BR Collector videos on youtube, and luckily someone gifted it to her last week as a belated birthday gift so we’ll save it for Christmas.

Need – Both kids are very interested in money, and I like this Moonjar piggy bank because it has three sections for saving, spending, and sharing. This way they can buy their own treats, save up for gifts for someone else, and donate to charity.

Wear – I bought Charlie and Olive fleece robes from Gap when they were having a one day $15 sale. It will keep them warm on chilly winter days and nights!

Read – Both Charlie and Olive love Berenstain Bears books and I like that each one teaches a lesson.

Mrs. High Heels – Noelle, 4

Want – Playdoh pizza shop – she’s been asking for this for months now because she loves Disney Collector on youtube, and is obsessed with playdoh!

Need – Cute hair clips. I rarely ever put things in her hair, but time to spruce it up a bit.

Wear – Christmas PJ’s – Going to put them in matching PJ’s! It’s not cold enough here to do long sleeved shirts and pants at night, so I’ve been patiently waiting for it to cool down.

Read – Olivia Helps With Christmas

Mrs. Chocolate – Drake: 4

Want: Animal figures, specifically this set I got.

Need: I doubt this kid needs anything, but we could always use more puzzles and board games to practice patience and turn taking. I like this Petit Collage floor puzzle since it’s large and has a map on it (with animals for Drake’s amusement).

Wear: Christmas PJs. Drake choose this pair for himself.

Read: I always buy books for birthday and Christmas so he will be getting a few including: If You Give a Cat a CupcakeEIEIO: How Old Macdonald Got His Farm With a Little Help from a Hen, and The Octonauts and the Growing Goldfish.

Mrs. Wagon – Wagon Jr, 5

Want: Rescue Bots Fire Station
Need: Metal water bottle for daycare
Wear: hat and mittens (our holiday tradition in their stockings)
Read: Books about robots

Mrs. Bee – Charlie, 5

Want – Megatron. Charlie is still obsessed with Transformers like he was last year. I asked him why he wanted a villain, and he said he needs someone to fight the good guys!

Need – Charlie received a lot of Lego sets for his recent birthday, and this Lego Storage Brick would keep all those little pieces organized!

Wear – Charlie outgrew his rain boots and I got a great deal on this pair of Hunter Thurloe boots on ebay. I love the laces!

Read – I’ve had my eye on Maps for a long time. It’s a beautifully illustrated oversized book that we can pore over. I’m also going to get him several Magic Treehouse books — we’ve read most of the books in the series.

Mrs. Cowgirl: Lil’ CB, 5 years

Want: Lil’ CB is very much into Legos right now. He also still loves superheroes, so this set would be a great combination of two of his current loves.

Need: It’s hard for me to define a need for him because I’m sure my definition and Lil’ CB’s definition of what he needs would not be the same! He could definitely use a new lunchbox, though, so I might splurge and get him this Yumbox that Mrs. Bee has raved about!

Wear: Lil’ CB is terrible about keeping his covers on at night, so he gets cold easily. Thankfully, he still loves footie jammies, so it’s a great way to solve that problem. We’ll probably get these and give them to him before Christmas so he can wear them on Christmas Eve!

Read: You probably already know by now that we are HUGE Mo Willems’ fans in our house! We love the Elephant and Piggie series and have every book in the set, so this new one will be added to our collection!

Mrs. Train – Joe, 5

All the boys want this year are Lego sets. We have tried to tell them that they all can’t get four or five huge Lego sets, but that’s not sinking in very well.

Want: AT AT walker Lego. He has wanted this lego set since first seeing it in Target over a year ago. Now he is following the directions and putting sets together easier, so with our help I think he can do this one.

Need: Star Wars sheets. Joe is a bit of a Star Wars purist. He is not a big fan of the clone wars or Lego movies, he much prefers the original three movies.

Wear: We never got any cold weather last winter so I never saw the need for slippers, but Joe has really wanted a pair for a while. Lilly got a pair as a birthday present and now he has started asking for them again.

Read: We are starting to read chapter books in the evening and I thought the kids might really like this series. Joe is a big baseball fan and #3 is about the Dodgers, so we will have some incentive to read the first three books.

Mrs. Train – Nick, 5

Want: Lego City Arctic set. Nick originally wanted another Arctic set but when I told him it was one of my favorites, the boys decided to get that one for me for Christmas. They took a bunch of their quarters out of the bank and took it to my mom’s house to see if she would help them get me the lego set. So he decided this ice breaker ship was his second favorite and that if he got this one we could play with our Arctic sets together.

Need: Dusty Crophopper sheets. He doesn’t ask to watch the movie a ton but whenever he sees Dusty he gets super excited. He loved the new movie when Dusty gets to become a fire fighter and is anxiously awaiting the DVD release, so we thought it would be a good character for his sheet set.

Wear: We are about to dive into the world of Harry Potter. I insisted that the kids sit with me and read the book before watching the movie. In a few weeks we will start reading it together and I really think this is a fun shirt. With three boys in the house there is bound to be mischief.

Read: Nick loved all the fairy tales we read during our summer vacation. I thought these could be good books for him that take the fairy tales and add funny twists to them.

Mrs. Train – James, 6

Want: Jabbas Palace. My sister gave us the Rancor pit as a gift not knowing that this connecting piece that goes on top was extremely expensive and retired. Of course once they saw the box it was exactly what they wanted. We lucked out and found a set on ebay that was super cheap because the box was opened and the set had been put together before. It was only missing one piece that we can easily replace and we didn’t have to pay a ton of money for a retired set.

Need: A close second to Legos is Phineas and Ferb so we thought we would get him a sheet set with his favorite characters

Wear: Abraham Lincoln shirt. James is so interested in Abraham Lincoln and the civil war I know he would love a shirt with his favorite president on it. I am not set on this one, but it is one of the few that I have found that doesn’t have some silly writing like, “I don’t like the theater” or “Swag” with added in sunglasses. I just want a simple Lincoln shirt.

Read: Keeping up with his civil war obsessions we are thinking about getting him a few books on the subject. What Was the Battle of Gettysburg? and The Civil War for Kids: A History with 21 Activities

Mrs. Paintbrush – Mini Michaelangelo, 6 years

Want: What doesn’t he want?! He’s asking for a swimming pool… but since he’s not getting that, I’ll focus on the smaller wishes. He’s still really, really into science and experimenting so he will find a science kit under the tree. And maybe this cool little handheld microscope.

Need: The hand-me-down digital camera he owned recently died… and he was devastated. It’s a no-brainer that this will be a gift this year. I am still researching the perfect, affordable camera for him but it will be something in this realm.

Wear: We live in New England. It’s tradition to get a fun hat (preferably with animal ears) and LOTS of mittens. In the past, I’ve found winners at babyGap and Children’s Place… This year, he’s specifically requested a hat with “ear flaps” not “ears,” so…

Read: He has silent reading for half an hour every day in school… so I want to find a series that he can sink his teeth into (That’s *not* the Magic Treehouse books!) These seem promising: Secret Agent Jack Stalwart and Time Kids Big Book of Why.
