My previous diaper bag kicked the bucket—the strap completely broke off—the week after my baby was born. Granted, being a second-time mom helped me keep my cool a little bit since I knew all I really needed was to stuff the essentials (diaper and wipes, spare onesie, Ziploc bag, and a burp cloth) into my purse. But still, a new mama needs a diaper bag—or at the very least, she needs a large purse since that list of six things will very quickly expand into needing to stuff the kitchen sink inside of a bag. Am I right or am I right?

Not wanting a traditional diaper bag, I set out to find one that would look like a purse, but act like a diaper bag. Lo and behold, there were a lot of options out there for me, and my wish list quickly grew. Now that I’m happily content with the bag I picked, I’m sharing that list with you!

Diaper-Bags-that-Look-Like-Purses

1) Lily Jade “Caroline in Red”: This vibrant and bold bag has tons of storage organization, perfect for moms who like to keep things in their place. It also comes with washable organizer, changing pad, shoulder straps, and a cross-body strap.

2) Coach Taxi Baby Bag Tote: You can’t get more purse-like than this stunner by Coach. It doesn’t look like it, but there are two outside pockets, and tons of space inside including zippered compartments. It comes with stroller straps and a changing pad.

3) JoTotes “Missy”: This is a camera bag, but I was drawn to it for the color and size—perfect for the transition from spring to summer. The large compartment can fit everything you’d need (plus more, like a laptop), and the outside pockets could store all of your “mom” necessities.

4) Kelly Moore Bag “Libby”: This bag comes in seven colors, and while it’s technically a camera bag, it can totally fit the bill as a diaper bag/purse. There are six pockets (including a zippered pocket in the back that will hold an iPad), shoulder straps and a messenger bag strap, and several removable dividers so you can separate between mom stuff and baby stuff.

5) Timi & Leslie “Abby”: This turned out to be the pink Cadillac of diaper bags, and it’s also the one I ended up buying. It’s fantastic and I wish I took the plunge and bought it earlier. The bag itself is made of a soft and durable material, and there are tons of pockets (some zippered and some magnetic) and compartments to put everything I may need. I especially love the pockets on the side since I carry my water bottle with me everywhere—my bottle fits perfectly. The bag also comes with six additional pieces (changing pad, cross body strap, stroller straps, zippered soiled clothes bag, insulated bottle tote, and a clutch). And it’s large enough to store my MacBook Air!

6) Skip Hop Studio Select Day-to-Night Diaper Satchel: I saw this bag in person and almost got it. The only thing stopping me is that I wanted a little bit more—I like more pockets and place to store things. But, if you want something simple and classic, yet still large enough to put everything you may need into it, this one will work for you. It comes with a changing pad and stroller straps.

7) Storksak “Olivia” Nylon Baby Bag: If you want a bag with storage, this one’s got it. Pockets surround the entire bag, and there are more compartments inside. Stuff everything you may need for the baby and yourself in this bag and you’ll be good to go. It also comes with stroller straps, a changing pad, and a detachable make-up bag (for mom, of course).
