Juliet’s Early Intervention Journey

IMG_0648

The Ups and Downs

"After a few more questions both about Juliet's physical and verbal abilities, the doctor said she thought Juliet might be delayed. In that moment when I heard that word, another huge rush of emotions, worries, and guilt, came over me. The doctor said the best thing to do would be to contact Early Intervention and get her evaluated and proceed from there."

Early Intervention Evaluation

"Juliet's Early Intervention evaluation was yesterday so I thought I would share our experience as well as the next steps. Juliet was evaluated for both speech and physical development by two different evaluators who came to our home."

Early Intervention - A Little Update

"We have had our next 2 appointments with Early Intervention and are now awaiting the last step, which is meeting the actual therapists who will come into our home to work with Juliet personally."

Crawling toward progress

"We also started our Early Intervention therapies. Juliet met with both her physical therapist, slated to come once a month, and her developmental therapist, slated to come once a week. Her physical therapist did a few different exercises with Juliet, moving her legs, lifting her up to stand from a sitting down position, and moving toys from one side to another to see her neck move to follow. She said Juliet has a little low muscle tone, but nothing severe or anything that should be impacting her greatly."

Early Intervention Evaluation 12 Month Review

"In September Juliet will have been enrolled in early intervention for 6 months (so fast!). She has been progressing nicely in the program so far seeing both a developmental therapist once a week and a physical therapist once a month. In September her review will be up to see if she can remain in the program or what services need to be added or dropped depending on her progress."

Six Months in Early Intervention

"Every six months early intervention does an assessment to see if the child has been improving under services, review the goals that have been met, whether services need to be continued, added, stopped, etc."

Graduated

"Juliet completed her last physical therapy session in Early Intervention and was dismissed from that program this month! She is still in Early Intervention for developmental, a pre-cursor for speech right now since she is still too young to qualify, but the physical therapy part of her intervention is now finished."

Coming Up On One Year in Early Intervention

"It’s hard to believe, but Juliet’s one year anniversary in Early Intervention is fast approaching. It’s amazing when I look at my little 19 month old baby and see how much of a difference one year can make."
