Lately I’ve been thinking about how we will document baby TTT’s first year(s) of life. I still love looking through my baby book, in all its ruffly pink 80s glory. With blogs and social media, it’s easy to just post pictures and captions without ever having anything tangible to look at. But I know baby TTT will enjoy looking through his baby book one day, as will Mr. TTT and I. Here are a few of my favorite baby books:
1) This one from Pearhead has a bright, modern cover design with a space for baby’s footprint and first picture. It has prompts to fill in, so that takes some of the guesswork out of the process.
2) Another option is to use something like this from allaboutbabypages on etsy, that you can print out at home and put into a scrapbook or have bound at a copy store.
3) The cover of this one from lorgieandme on etsy is so gorgeous. It’s more of a scrapbook that we’d have to fill in ourselves, but I love the engraved wooden cover.
4) This one, from etsy seller Annamalie, is customizable, but also has the prompts for parents to fill out.
After thinking about keeping up with blog updates and filling out a baby book, I’ll probably document each month and make a book at the end of the year using a site like Tiny Prints, Shutterfly, AdoramaPix (the company we used for our wedding album), or Blurb.
Are you planning on creating a baby book?

These are so cute! We received a really cute baby book for Christmas from my sister that I need to start filling out. It sits in the nursery taunting me right now
It has lots of cute things to include before baby was born (picture of husband and I, how much sympathy weight he has gained during the pregnancy, things that I’m craving, etc).
I’m bound and determined to be good about filling it out…I remember that my mom never finished mine (curse of being the second child!).

We got our baby book from etsy, from seller rubylovedesigns

I like it a lot. I think the book is beautiful, I do wish there were some more creative questions for us to fill in but there are lots of blank pages. My baby boy is 7 weeks and I’m proud to say it is up to date

I love the pages in #4 but I’m not a fan of her book. I like the idea of getting pages from someone with prompts and whatnot and then adding your photos and information, like #2. Etsy is a great place to look! I am definitely going to be researching more on there soon.

I think using something like Blurb or MyPublisher is what I’ll do one day.

Lucky for me, my husband is really great at putting together Blurb photobooks and has created a really nice one for LO’s first year.

The best book is one you’ll fill out, so I used a simple one from Anne Geddes, I think. We’re also doing a custom photobook, my husband uses InDesign quite well, but that’s going to be mostly photos with just a tiny bit of text.

This couldn’t have come at a better time for me. I’m due with #2 in May and realized that I’m not certain of lots of dates- like first time we saw the heartbeat, etc. I was thinking, “I better hurry up and get a baby book so I can look back and the calendar and jot that stuff down!”

I never thought I would be the mother of a 13-month old who hasn’t even started on the baby book! Me – type A to a fault. But so it is. We have a million photos but none printed, which I think has been the first obstacle. Getting them actually printed would mean having to sort through the several thousand pictures a week that we took during Baby A’s first six months. And remembering exactly when the first tooth showed up etc. could only be done by sorting through old e-mails to my best friend. But I know I HAVE to get on this before baby #2 arrives!
