Maybe I was being silly, but I put a lot of thought into our girls’ coming home outfits. There was a certain art form to picking the perfect coming home outfit.  Here were my considerations:

1. We preferred outfits that would be easy to get a squirmy little baby in and out of (minimal snaps, ties or buttons) and that would be easy to get over a newborn’s head.  Nervous hands don’t work very well with a squawking infant protesting the wardrobe change!

2. We looked for outfits with pants so that the baby could be easily buckled into and out of the carseat.

3. Consider outfits with no midline decoration or snaps to avoid irritating the umbilical stump.

4.  We desired outfits that were adorable and that we could save to give to the kids when they were all grown up to show how tiny they once were.  Hoodies with ears were preferable to those without (wink)!

5. We wanted outfits that were pretty equivalent for both girls so that nobody felt slighted when looking at pictures in the future.

6. We made sure to have back-up clothes in case there was spit up or a blow-out before getting out the door and into the car.

7. Don’t forget little mittens for little hands with sharp claws and don’t forget socks (like we did this time!).

Actually, we ended up being really lucky in that we found a similar Carter’s cupcake themed outfit for Jack Jack a full 2 years after Little Jacks was born.  We got a simple newborn onesie, with warm pull-over fleece pants and hoodie sweatshirts for each girl.  We hope they look back fondly on their different but similar outfits!
