Little Jacks turns two today.  I asked her how old she is now, and she said in her true jokester way “20!”

Her assessment gave me momentary panic.  Soon enough, she will be 20 and in cliche fashion, I’ll wonder where all the time went.  My mantra is to enjoy as many of the moments as I can right now with our girls.  Little Jacks went from being a teeny tiny, dependent baby born at high noon on a cloudy Seattle day, to a curious, engaged, autonomous, and funny toddler who is interested in everything.  Two days ago, I found her atop a 6 foot ladder in our back yard reaching for a bird’s nest just above her head while her best friend yelled “Get down? Get down?”.  Last night she was pretending to be our neighbor talking on the phone and was actually mimicking his words and manner of speaking perfectly!

Every single stage has been my “favorite” with an emphasis on whichever is current as “most favorite.”  There is nothing like having a child to bring you into the moment and to help you live in the now.  Little Jacks, by coming into the world you have given me the biggest gift I could ever get… the gift of a completely unconditional love!

I don’t know all the world holds for you, LJ, but I do know (to quote one of your favorite books “Oh the Places You’ll Go” by Dr. Seuss)  “And will you succeed?  Yes! You will, indeed! (98 and 3/4 percent guaranteed.)  KID, YOU’LL MOVE MOUNTAINS!”

And as for 20, well, hopefully we’ll just enjoy 2 for a while!
