We’ve tried our fair share of baby toiletries, and these are the ones that work best for us. Charlie and Olive use more products than I do!
1) California Baby Super Sensitive Shampoo & Bodywash – Because it’s a little pricey and we go through so much, I tried cheaper alternatives like Aveeno. But they made Charlie’s mildly sensitive skin break out. We also tried Episencial and Earth Angel Mama Baby (both of which are scented), but their smaller bottles worked out to be pricier than California Baby. So we’ve stuck to fragrance-free California Baby because it works, it’s made of all natural ingredients, and it gives us the most bang for our buck. The whole family uses it!
2) Aquaphor – We don’t really use diaper rash cream, and we’re lucky that Charlie and Olive have never had diaper rash. I’ve found that if their butts get a little bit red, wiping with water and cloth wipes and giving them some diaper-free time always does the trick. If we do use something for their little booties, it’s Aquaphor by the tub. We use it on their butts, faces, skin, (it works for cradle cap too) and I even use it as a lip gloss!
3) Earth’s Best Organic Toothpaste by Jason – This fluoride-free toothpaste is what we used when Charlie didn’t know how to spit and rinse and would eat the toothpaste. Another brand that I love but didn’t try is Weleda Children’s Tooth Gel.
4) Tom’s of Maine Anticavity Children’s Toothpaste in Silly Strawberry – This fluoridated toothpaste is what we use now that Charlie is older and can spit and rinse.
5) California Baby Super Sensitive Everyday Lotion – We tried other brands, but this unscented lotion just seems to work best for Charlie’s skin. I do need to find a nice cream for the winter though, as the creams by California Baby all have a scent and come in jars, and I prefer unscented in bottles or tubes.
6) Episencial’s SPF 35 Sunscreen – We use this or California Baby every single day in the summer. We spend a lot of time in the sun during the summer, so sunscreen is an absolute must.
7) Shady Day Sun Protection Wipes SPF 30 – Sometimes we forget to apply sunscreen before we leave the house, so we keep these sunscreen wipes in the diaper bag. They are pricey, but they’re so convenient.
8) Cleanwell All Natural Hand Sanitizer Wipes – I liked the individually packaged hand wipes from Babyganics (and we’re still using them) because I keep a couple in every bag and don’t have to worry about them drying out, but they’ve become harder to find recently. These ones from Cleanwell have a strong scent because they’re made with thyme, but I like that they’re eco-friendly. We’re kind of obsessive about cleaning/wiping/washing Charlie’s hands since he gets sick so often.
9) Boogie Wipes in Grape – We can’t live without these saline nose wipes in the winter. They make blowing and wiping sore noses easier, and I love the grape scent!
10) Pampers Sensitive Wipes – We buy these in bulk through Amazon Subscribe and Save and not only use them as wipes for diaper changes, but we usually carry around an entire package in the stroller to wipe down dirty surfaces when we’re out and about.
11) Cortizone 10 Eczema Cream – Charlie has some mild eczema and rashes from time to time, and this 1% hydrocortisone really helps with the itching.
12) Natrapel Bug Repellent – We’ve tried tons of different bug repellents, and we still get bit when we apply them, but it’s greatly reduced when we’re wearing repellent. This one doesn’t contain DEET, and worked better for us last summer than the California Baby brand, which Charlie had a slight reaction to.
What are some of your favorite baby toiletries and skincare products?

We use aquaphor or Vaseline whenever LO gets a little red on her bum and this seems to clear it up right away…so far no diaper rash yet
Also we use mustela body wash, shampoo and sunscreen. Everyone is always telling me how good LO smells

Aquaphor!!!!! I use it on both boys right after a bath when their skin is still moist to get the most out of it. Never need additional moisturizer throughout the day. And it’s awesome in preventing diaper rashes door us too. I also use it nightly on my lips and hands to prevent dryness. It is awesome.
California baby also rocks. I get them at bed bath and beyond with their 20% off coupon because it is pricey. Sometimes Target will have them on sale so I buy a few them.
And Kirkland’s baby wipes. Can’t live without it. Super easy to wipe and each sheet is pretty big compared to Pampers and Huggies.

Dove soap and shampoo and cetaphil moisturizer are our go-to toiletries. Aquaphor we use on chapped cheeks and drool rash. We also love unscented boogie wipes. We use Thristies Fab Wipes with water instead of disposable wipes. We haven’t ventured into toothpaste but for sunscreen we use Adorable Baby by Loving Naturals.

My LO has a really bad skin rash reaction to Aquaphor–covers her whole face in a horrible, bumpy red rash. Apparently some babies react to petroleum products. We use Babyganics Bye Bye Dry for her skin and it’s really great stuff! Our doc told us to mix it with 1% hydrocortisone cream when she has eczema and it works wonders. We also only use Cetaphil to wash her because it’s so great for sensitive skin.

Another great alternative to Aquaphor and Vaseline is Alba’a “Un-Petroleum”…we love CA Baby wash and sunscreen!

Desitin for diaper rash, Aveeno Baby cream for eczema (light blue cap), Mustela newborn shampoo and stelakar cream for cradle cap, Mustela hair and body wash, Pampers sensitive wipes and Babyganics hand sanitizers. On the hunt for another sunscreen since the Aveeno one we use didn’t rate too well on the latest EWG report,
I discovered The Honest Company skincare products a few months ago. They are certified organic, smells awesome but at the end of the day, I still resort to my tried and tested staples.

Right now I swear by Cerave hydrating cleanser and Cerave moisturizing cream. They are not strictly baby products but my pediatrician recommended them, they have much less harsh irritants and chemicals than a lot of baby products.
Also Earth Mama Angel baby bottom balm is great

That is a lot of toiletries! We’re still learning which we like and dislike. It’s quite the expensive process.
