Is your little one going through a princess phase? Indulge her passion with this sweet fairy tale lunch.
Ingredients
- whole wheat bread
- sandwich fillings
- cucumber slices
- carrot sticks
- ranch dressing
Equipment
- jewel picks
- dress cookie cutter
- frog cookie cutter
- heart cookie cutter
- star shaped or round silicone cup
Technique:
- Begin by cutting two slices of bread into the shape of a dress. If you don’t have a cookie cutter in this shape, you can do this with a knife or kitchen shears.
- Fill the sandwich with your child’s favorite fillings. I used peanut butter here, but anything else will work just as well.
- Add a decorative pick that looks like a bow to the waist of the dress.
- Add more jewels at the hem of the dress to put it over the top.
- Use a small cookie cutter to cut frogs from the cucumber slices, saving one slice to use for the sceptor.
- Cut remaining slice of cucumber into a heart shape. Cut a slot into the side of the heart and insert a carrot cut into a match stick shape for the handle of the sceptor.
- Fill a silicone cup or other small dish with ranch dressing for dipping.
- Arrange all items on the plate with any extra carrot sticks or cucumber slices on the side. Tell your child they’re “magical vegetables” for extra fun (and a possibly higher amount of veggie consumption)!
Do you make lunches to support your child’s obsessions?
