Scribble was born in late August so I got to enjoy all the misery of a summer pregnancy in the deep South. I am fortunate to have easy access to a swimming pool, which was a godsend on those 100-plus degree days, but I did experience a lot of swelling. Around the 30 week mark I had to stop wearing my wedding ring set. I wanted to wear something that would indicate my marital status, especially since I figured I would probably end up sans ring for a while after giving birth. So while we were on our babymoon, we also went ring shopping. It was fun to get to pick out my “wedding ring” since I had no input on my original set. I ended up with this pretty little claddagh:
Here’s an instagram on one of the last days I was able to wear my wedding rings. And here’s another shot of my pregnancy wedding band, taken around the 35 week point:
In these pictures I think I am actually wearing it incorrectly! If you are married, I believe you’re supposed to wear it with the crown facing outward (the same way you wear it when you have graduated from a school). I have a tendency to twirl my rings so they always end up in a different position.
I absolutely love my pregnancy wedding band and enjoyed wearing it. I ended up using it until Scribble was around two months old, so for nearly five months altogether. I actually was a little sad when I stopped needing it. Hopefully we’ll be blessed with another pregnancy and I’ll get to sport it again someday. Or maybe I’ll have a daughter or a daughter-in-law who is in need of a substitute ring in a pinch!
Did you experience swelling during pregnancy? Did you wear jewelry while your hands were swollen?

Will it fit on your middle finger? I wore an old Claddagh ring I had in my jewelry box when my wedding rings stopped fitting. It’s larger than my ring finger, but fits perfectly on my middle. When I was pregnant, it fit quite well on my ring finger. It was so nice to have something to wear while pregnant!!
Your ring is beautiful, by the way.

I was sort of disappointed that I didn’t swell! I was kind of looking forward to having an excuse to buy a stand-in ring, but mine fit up until delivery.
Oh well! Glad you got to enjoy one.

I have just taken to wearing my “fat” ring because my fingers are just swollen enough that my wedding ring has gotten stuck a few times in the last couple of weeks. I am just using a cheap one I got at Target before we went on vacation last year, but now I feel like I should go pick out a cute one!

I wore my rings to the very end, but left them at home when I went to the hospital to be induced. They fit again as soon as I got home. I only had swelling in my feet and ankles.

I stopped wearing my rings in the summer too, just because I don’t like wearing them when it’s hot. Then in the fall I was a little too swollen for them to fit comfortably, but I was used to not wearing them so I didn’t spend money on a stand-in. I got so used to not wearing them, that I rarely wear them at home anymore, only when I go out (which isn’t often since I work from home!)

I was so swollen by 10 weeks that I could hardly get my rings off!
I got a pregnancy wedding band in May (I was about 5 months along) that I wore until just a few months ago. I lost all my baby weight, but my fingers never shrunk! I ended up having to have my wedding rings re-sized one size up. I’m so glad I have back on.
I put my pregnancy band in my jewelry box.

Pretty rings!
I plan on wearing my anniversary ring, which I normally wear on my right hand (fingers are bigger), on my left ring finger when my wedding band and other rings won’t fit anymore. If that one gets too tight, I’ll probably get a fun costume ring at Nordstrom Rack or Target.

When I’m pregnant I hope my fingers don’t swell. I am allergic to most metals except platinum. I don’t think I’ll be able to justify spending that much money on a stand in ring!

I had DS in August and had to take my band off sometime in June because my hands were swelling with the heat + pregnancy. I thought about a stand-in but ended up just wearing my band on a chain around my neck.

I love this! I wish I had gotten a cuter maternity band–I got a fake diamond one that is now starting to tarnish, but I didn’t want to spend much because I don’t know how swollen my fingers will get.
