At the beginning of the month I blogged about how my New Year’s Resolution was to invest a little more time into taking care of myself because I spend every waking (and many sleeping) moment caring for a baby. I haven’t prioritized myself as I should, down to not even showering more than twice a week. I also vowed to get dressed every day, even if that meant just clean sweatpants, I had to get out of what I slept in! In conjunction with that I was motivating myself by taking a photo of my mommy style whenever I could… more like whenever Mr. Pen was able to!

Even though the month isn’t quite over yet, I achieved my goal of 12 photos for this month, and this post is one I’ve been looking forward to and waiting to put together all month! I am so proud of myself in regards to this month. I kept a journal on my iPhone and wrote about each day how getting dressed and showering impacted my motivation and activity level. It truly helped me feel alive and able to get things done! I am so happy with myself this month, and it was fun picking out outfits each day and having my husband photograph me; we had a lot of fun with it. Without further ado: Mrs. Pen’s January Mommy Style.

In my original post, I also made a goal to do one thing for myself this month, and my goal this month was to get a much-needed hair cut and color. I haven’t had my hair cut or colored since Cobi was 3 months old! I had many split ends. I decided to something a little more dramatic and I am in love with it, as is my amazing stylist Emily!

I had so much fun with this task that I am considering doing mommy style posts for next month too! I suppose whether I do or not all depends on how much feedback I get for this post. Let me know if you would love to see some more! I love the challenge and motivation it gives me.

Are you able to take care of yourself while caring for little one(s)?
