Yet again, I’m so very behind on my Baby H updates! More than anything it makes me sad because these posts are my best chance of capturing (and remembering!) all of the fun new things Baby H is doing.
Each and every day she becomes even more fun! Yes, being a mom still a whole lot of work. The days I’m home with Baby H are downright exhausting. But… the days are also so much more rewarding now that she is getting older. She interacts with me more – we can play games together, she will hand me toys to play with, and she understandings so many words. Being her mom is incredibly awesome!
What’s been a little less than awesome lately? Our weekly photos. Now that Baby H does not want to sit still, the photos are a bit of a challenge.
As you scroll through the photos, take a guess at which days I dressed her and which days Mr. H dressed her. We tend to have different…styles.
Baby H really wanted to celebrate the big 4-0 (weeks) with a high kick!
Our “state of the family” right now is this:
What we’ve learned: A greater sense of partnership on certain things. I’m trying to do better at helping out with certain things around the house (as Mr. H tends to be the one who cleans). He has taken to being more helpful with things like washing and folder diapers, folding Baby H’s clothes, and other chores for her that I typically manage. And together we are working on better “meal planning” for Baby H to ensure we’re offering her a good variety of food.
What we’re enjoying right now: A baby that is on the MOVE. Baby H started crawling forward 1 day before she turned 9 months! I was overjoyed that she did it on a Sunday so that I could be home to see her start crawling. Now she is all over the place and having a blast. Which also means we’ve been dipping our toes in the babyproofing pool – it’s amazing how many outlets one small house can have!
What our biggest struggles are: Keeping her occupied in the house. With colder weather and snow, we haven’t had Baby H out and about very much. Which means it still can be difficult to find fun activities for her. While she loves jumping in her jump-a-roo, we have to work to find other fun things for her to do. Fortunately she loves looking at herself in the mirror, so she spends a lot of time in our bedroom “finding the baby” in the mirror and smiling at her. She has also started getting interested in books, so we read a lot of books during the day!
What has been Baby H’s most exciting milestone: Last time it was clapping, now it’s waving! Baby H loves to wave at everyone and everything and now understands “hi” and “bye,” but isn’t quite saying the words yet. She also is still figuring out this whole waving thing, as more often than not her hand is actually turned so that she’s waving at herself!
What we’re looking forward to: Walking…? I say that with hesitation because I know that it’s going to be so exciting to see her take her first steps, it makes me nervous to have a little one on the move!

At least your husband puts on pants….my husband always says that T “hates” pants and takes them off the second we are in the house. Um, it’s winter in New England!

Thanks everything! I still can’t believe how big my baby has gotten!
@Mrs. Superhero: I know! It’s super cute but it didn’t fit her for the longest time, and now that I’m putting it on her she’s almost grown out of it!
@LaurelMae: Yep, Mrs. Bee is correct! It’s Zutano. It always makes me smile because it’s what we snuggled her in when we brought her home from the hospital! http://www.amazon.com/Zutano-Velour-Sherpa-Blanket-Owls/dp/B004P1IW96
