Finding activities for toddlers that are not only fun, but educational and inexpensive as well can be a challenge. I find that more times than not it’s the simplest activities that keep my children the happiest for the longest amounts of time. Take for example these color coded stickers. One afternoon while cleaning out my desk, my 5 year old saw these stickers and asked if she could have a few sheets. At that moment I decided to create a simple pattern on paper for her to re-create. She loved it and color coded stickers have been a staple in our home since.
To get started, all you’ll need is a pack of color coded stickers and plain white printer paper.
Begin by placing the stickers on a sheet of paper in the pattern you would like your child to replicate.
Give your child a few sheets of the stickers and let them go to town.
To keep your child engaged in the activity use different colored stickers to create diverse pattern combinations. The sky’s the limit!

We do the same thing with stringing beads on pipe cleaners! My son usually follows the pattern once to prove he can follow the pattern, then tells me he wants to do a different pattern!
