The past month in the Hopscotch household has been quite busy! Miss H cut four molars (OMG!) so we’ve had a bit of a grumpy little one with a runny nose. But, despite what her mouth must feel like, she’s been pretty great overall. And, the nicer weather has brought about many trips to the park, our local farmer’s market, and a lot of long stroller walks. When we’re out and about, Miss H gets to practice saying “hi” to everyone she sees. Needless to say, we’re loving summer so far!
Miss H is also getting faster, faster, and faster! She loves “running” away from us as she explores the house, and when we’re outside she wants to walk all over the place. At first she was hesitant and always wanted to be holding someone’s hand, but now she just takes off on her own. She’s quite independent!
And, since our monthly update doesn’t include a lot of photos as we’re only taking 1 “formal” photo a month, I thought I’d share Miss H and her little pigtails form the other day! Too cute!
Our “state of the family” right now is this:
What we’ve learned: That we hadn’t done nearly enough babyproofing! We thought we’d done a decent job, but now that Miss H is really all over the place, we’ve been working on making more changes to the house. We know that she can’t live in a bubble, but on the flipside, we need to make sure heavy objects are safely and neatly tucked away.
What we’re enjoying right now: How silly Miss H is. The other day Mr. H and I just looked at each other while I was holding Miss H and said how much we loved how goofy she is! She always has a smile on her face and loves to play and hide. Even on her worst days (i.e. not feeling well or over tired) she is such a joy to be around!
What our biggest struggles are: We’re still struggling with naps! We need to start a transition down to 1 nap, as she so often only takes a morning nap and then has a very long stretch of time where she’s awake before it’s bedtime!
What has been Miss H’s most exciting milestone: Maybe not a milestone, but it has been fun since Miss H has figured out where my nose is. And my toes, arm, hands, hair, etc. She recently learned all of her body parts, but it is so darn cute whenI ask her to point to my nose or toes. One day it just clicked with her – mommy and daddy have those too!
What we’re looking forward to: Miss H learning even more words. She has a pretty good basic vocabularly (yes, no, please, more, mamma, dadda, pup-pup, wa-wa, etc.) but it will be so fun as she learns more and more words and can start talking to us more!

Isn’t it amazing how you think you childproof yet they still find things to get into???? We also learned the hard way about furniture being secured to the wall. Now I understand why they recommend to do that. Our little guy thought it would be fun to pull out a drawer of a small table and it fell over. Thankfully he was okay but it certainly was scary. Needless to say that table had to moved to basement.

What a fun update!!! And seriously… I am not looking forward to the babyproof stage again. I feel like it’s always something more to do there!

Awww..she’s adorable! My youngest is just a little older than her and he’s the same…such a funny little kid and if we had him first our house would be baby proofed like crazy! He gets into everything that my oldest never bothered with. He started throwing toys in the trash can and thought it was funny. Interestingly, his big brother thought it was funny too even if it was his toy. And we just dropped his morning nap b/c he would either take a morning nap and not do his afternoon nap or vice-versa. Not taking the afternoon nap was brutal on him… so I decided to just drop his AM nap for him. He screams when it’s nap time anyway. I think it’s easier for him to not take his morning nap anymore b/c he has his big brother to play with now that it’s summer and I haven’t enrolled him in more camps. The transition wasn’t too hard for us. I hope it won’t be for you too!
