With Lil’ Tea Cup’s first birthday fast approaching, I have been looking back at the weekly updates that I did  on my personal blog. Although some weeks I struggled to find the time to put together the simple paragraphs and list of “what’s new” items, I am so glad that I did this in the long run. Part of the reason is that apparently my memory is not what it used to be! I can barely remember what happened last night let alone last month! Ask me when her first tooth came in and I will look at you blankly but I know where to find out and for that I am so grateful.

I have not shared Lil’ Tea Cup’s updates on Hellobee before and that is mainly because I started blogging here when she was already almost half way through her first year. I decided instead that at the year mark I would give you all a “highlight reel” of sorts instead of the full deal – you would be reading for a month if I gave you the full ones as well!

So without further ado – here she is my darling little red head in all her monthly glory.

Wow has this ever been a month my little girl. I wouldn’t say it has been easy but it has certainly been wonderful. You have already moved from the wiggly newborn stage in to a more alert little baby who can hold her head up with amazing strength. You have grown so much. You were 8lbs 13oz at birth and you are now 11lbs 4oz. You have also grown 2 1/2 cm in height, making you 54.5cm long now. You love black and white pictures and sleeping on your Mom’s chest.
So many things happened this month but our favourite was the first real smile that you graced us with! We also started a sleep, eat, play routine with you and at just under 8 weeks you started sleeping through the night! You are however a champion swaddle escapee so that keeps Mom and Dad on their toes. You love tummy time and you now hold on to your favourite toys. You can bear weight on your legs now and have started to coo and babble more and more.

Laughter is the best medicine and you bring so much joy with yours! This month was a busy one. You celebrated your first Thanksgiving and Halloween this month. We also had an open house for you and loved meeting everyone. We are starting to take you out and about now and you love the mall. I am not sure where you get that from. You now roll from belly to back! You are making all kinds of new sounds. you favourite one seems to be “goy”. You are showing the early signs of trying to crawl.

You know our voices now and will search for us when you can hear them. You have also discovered your toes which gives you hours of fun. You love music and will happily sit and listen to the radio or to Mom’s singing. You are a busy girl and reach for everything. Your favourite toy is your jolly jumper. We took away your swaddle this month and you have done so well! You are still sleeping 11 hours at night and we are so glad.

You met Santa this month and celebrated your first Christmas. You also experienced your first snowfall and you make a mean snow angel! You like sitting in your high chair and do it during every meal. We think it because you are up high and you can see everyone better. You do not like to be left out of anything. Books are your favourites this month and you try to crawl towards them by kicking your feet when you are on your tummy.

You started eating solid foods this week and you love it! You wave your arms at the spoon for more! You can push up now into a standing position when we hold your hands and you are now sitting up on your own! We think you said your first word this month and it was “hi”. It makes sense because you are very social this month! You are now sitting in a big girl carseat and you like it much better then your infant one. You are now 20. 25 lbs and 29 1/2 inches long!

This month brings all kinds of big girl events! You are now sitting upright in the stroller for walks and you love to look around and see the people and animals that go by us. You are also sitting up in carts now.You do baby pushups when you are on your belly and you are working very hard on trying to figure out how to move on your own. When you really want something, especially things you are not supposed to have, you will roll to them.

You are so excited about the new things you can do that you shriek with joy all the time now. We can’t blame you because it is very exciting to watch you learn. You wave bye bye and now say ma, la and na. You are now rolling all over the place in your crib and scooting your bum to get where you want to go. You were baptized this month and celebrated your first Easter! We also tried swimming for the first time and you love the water just like your Mom.

You pass them to us when asked for them and usually use the more sign to ask for them back. You went on your first mini road trip and you had so much fun! You are starting to play strange this month and we see a little separation anxiety as well.

You can clap your hands and you like to clap for yourself when you have done something well. You do it all the time when you pull up on things. You have given up on purees and you eat finger foods only now. Thank goodness you seem to like everything you have tried so far. Pancakes are the favourite of the moment! You say “andma” now and Grandma is thrilled! Tooth five has also arrived.
