When I was pregnant, I wrote about how we redesigned our bedroom to make room for a baby in our one-bedroom condo. For the first four months of Baby Marker’s life, this worked out fabulously.

What I haven’t yet shared is that we moved! We actually sold our condo one week before Baby Markers was born, but we didn’t close until mid-June. We are now just settled into our new rental apartment – a 2 bed, 1.5 bath that allows for more space, especially important since Baby Markers is now on the move!

Before we moved in, I spent hours trying to decide how to decorate Baby M’s nursery. I finally found a fabric that I loved (called Pinwheel in Pink) and I decided to design the room around this fabric. That’s usually my favorite approach to decorating; I find a pillow or bedding that I love, then I choose paint colors and accessories to match. By not choosing a specific theme (like owls, giraffes, characters, etc.) the sky was really the limit as to what I could throw in there. I also wanted to choose items that could grow with her and still make sense in a toddler or big girl room down the line.

I like to create inspiration boards before I decorate because it helps keep me on track. When I was pregnant, I created multiple inspiration boards for different themed nurseries, since we were team green. I had a giraffe theme (gender neutral), an airplane theme (for a boy) and all things pretty and pink (for a girl). Obviously since Baby Markers is a girl, we went with the pink – I just couldn’t resist!

It’s been a few months since we moved in, but the nursery is finally complete!

Stay tuned for part 2, the nursery reveal.
