As a Midwestern girl, I am so thrilled to say that we have officially entered autumn.  Yes, that really happened on September 23, but now the weather reflects the date.  Of course, since we were having some oddly warm weeks, I put the cool weather out of my mind, so when I stepped outside over the weekend to find chilly air upon us, I realized how unprepared I was for the season.  Specifically in the outerwear department.  I have a few hand-me-down fleece pullovers that are tiding Little C over, but it’s official: Little C (and toddler mini men everywhere) is in need of a fall jacket.  I popped into my neighborhood Targé and snapped up a cheap Champion fleece zip up (#1), but as the temperatures creep down and the usage of the jacket creeps up, I know I will want a second, since of course, toddlers are little walking messes.  C’s been wearing this jacket for a week, and I’ve already had to launder it once, so it’s looking clear that we’ll need a back up.

Here are my parameters for what I’m looking for.  The most important factor is that it must be machine washable.  Being dryer friendly is a plus, but not mandatory – my child will not be wearing a dry clean coat until he can successfully eat a snack without wearing it for the rest of the day(ie: not for a looooooooooong time). I want something that won’t break the bank, that has a bit more character than an average fleece and that will be comfortable for C.  Finally, I am avoiding anything puffy, as I want to be able to pop him in the car seat without having to remove the jacket, so nothing too bulky. Readers who live in the land of moderate temps year-round could buy one of these for when winter turns cooler, or if you’re like me, you need it….yesterday…and will likely hold out for a very warm winter coat for when it gets even colder.

I always find that girls’ coats are the cutest, but I was pleased to find a TON of adorable options for little boys.  Here are a dozen of the cutest fall coats for toddlers that I’ve found, ranging from $15 – $60.
