I shared a while back one idea I had entertained for Miss H’s Halloween costume this year – Olivia the Pig. I liked it because I could dress her in everyday clothes and add a couple of details to truly make it “Olivia-esque” – ie pig ears!
I ended up going a different direction for her costume, mostly because I imagined her taking the pig ears off in 60 seconds or less! But we went with a costume that was just as easy.
Before I share Miss H’s lovely little costume and the inspiration behind it, we hope everyone had fun carving and decorating their pumpkins and/or playing with pumpkin goop! I was surprised that Miss H only wanted to gently touch her pumpkin and just wanted to sit back and watch me clean it out!
Anyway, back to costumes! Before I got pregnant ,Mr. H and I watched Despicable Me and I decided that one day I would have a little girl, and hoped she would be just as spunky and silly as the character Agnes (if you’ve seen the movie, she’s the youngest girl of the group and carries around a fluffy unicorn!). When I was trying to decide on Miss H’s costume, I realized the answer was right in front of me – of course she would be my little Agnes!
Achieving the “Agnes look” is pretty simple:

You simply need a pair of denim overalls, a t-shirt, sneakers, a pony tail on top of the head…oh, and a fluffy fun unicorn! We had the overalls, the t-shirt, the sneakers, and were able to convince Miss H to let us put a “pony” in her hair. All we needed was a unicorn, which we bought from Etsy seller EEK’s Creations. I love that I didn’t have to buy a single thing other than the unicorn, which Miss H can play with long after Halloween is over!
The only downside is that it’s not a super obvious costume, especially if you’ve not seen the movie before, but I love that it’s comfortable for Miss H to wear, it was CHEAP, and most importantly it was special to us!
Ok, want to see the final result?
I’m biased, but I think Miss H looks cuter than cute in her costume, and the child loves wearing her overalls around and doing silly dances in them!
We hope everyone had a safe and fun Halloween!
Did you opt for a simply/easy costume for your LO this year?

Yup, we did the same! D was Rocky – we already had the grey sweatpants and grey hoodie, I got black converse sneakers from the HB classifieds, and Hubs used red food coloring on a couple rice paper liners to wrap on his hands so it looked like he’d just finished punching the handing meat! Easy-peasy, and WAY cheap!

Very cute. DD wanted to be a purple owl so I used a purple hoodie sweater that we already had and pinned a purple feather boa to it for wings (bought on sale and can be used for dress up). She wore a pair of brown yoga pants and brown cowboy boots both of which we already had. We had to make a mask but $2 worth of felt took care of that. DS was a monster in his winter hat and some pajamas both of which we already had. Halloween costumes for two cost me just around $10.
