Winter — she’s just not giving up. I’ve tried talking to her and she just won’t listen. I don’t know about you, but I am B-O-R-E-D with my winter clothes. It’s probably because I’m bored with winter and so over it. Layering all those clothes, sorta helps with the winter blues. So I gathered up a bunch of fun and unique ways to layer clothes to spark some newness in your wardrobe and maybe make dressing warm in the last few weeks (hopefully it’s just a few) fun.


A SWEATER, UNDER A SHIRT UNDER ANOTHER SWEATER. It’s a mouth full, but if the over sweater is baggy and the core layer sweater is lighter and fitted – this layering combo could be warm and pretty genius (heavy on the pretty). via ManRepeller

TWO SWEATERS UNDER A LIGHT JACKET. Drop the coat and swap in a light sweater and a super warm tunic sweater, layered with a heavy denim jacket and you basically have a warm winter coat but in effortless layers. via Le Fashion

SEVERAL LIGHT LAYERS. On a colder day you will want to layer this (yet again) under a coat, but layering up a few lighter favorites adds a whole new look to already well loved pieces. via Polienne

DOUBLE UP YOUR COAT. Maybe you have a really pretty Fall coat that didn’t get enough wear. Why not layer your heavy winter coat over top – you get the pretty and the warmth. via Teen Vouge

WEAR YOUR JEANS WITH A SWEATER OVER YOUR DRESS. Drop the tights and the leggings and swap in your skinny jeans for under your dress. This would work best with a spring dress that is light and flowy, then layered with a sweater over top for warmth. So wintery boho chic, if that’s even a thing. via Park and Cube

BELT YOUR COAT. Grab a belt from your closet and wear it over your coat, rather than under. Instantly erases winter frump. via Man Repeller

TIE A SHIRT AT YOUR WAIST. It’s a little 90’s grunge, but if the rest of your outfit is flattering and chic it might add just the right rugged edge. Also there is a possibility it will keep your butt 1/8″ warmer. via Sincerely Jules

SWEATER OVER YOUR TEE. Better yet, steal your husband’s sweater and wear it over your favorite tee. It will be baggy and just droopy enough in the collar to show a bit of your tee collar off. via WhoWhatWear

SPRING JACKET UNDER A COAT. Wear that spring jacket as an open shirt until the temps allow you to wear it as a jacket. It’s unexpected, warm and you get extra wear out of something seasonal. via Sincerely Jules
