We recently had a big change in the Hopscotch household: we moved Miss H into a new bedroom! I was so excited to move her into her “big girl” room and to change up the layout of our house. In short: our home is spread out between three levels, with Mr. H and I having a bedroom in the top floor attic, Mr. H’s office being in the bedroom on the main floor, and Miss H’s bedroom in the basement.

This set up worked out incredibly well while Miss H was little – she was tucked away in her small little basement room where it was nice and quiet allowing for her to sleep through us making dinner, the dog barking, etc. But as she has gotten older, my anxiety level rose at the thought of her being so far away from us. I realized that in an emergency situation, I would not be able to get to her quickly or easily. And as she gets close to transitioning to a bed instead of a crib, I knew I would really want her close to me!

So, a few weeks ago we made the big switch! We hired a babysitter for a Sunday morning, which gave us from 8am-1pm (Miss H’s nap time) to have her room completely set up. I’m so thrilled with how it turned out and Miss H simply loves her new room! There’s so much more room for her to play, lots of natural light, and more opportunity for her to hang out and play in her room while Mr. H and I cook and do other housework. (You can check out Miss H’s old bedroom here.)

Without further delay, please check out Miss H’s new room!

New crib sheet, pillowcase cover, and quilt made by me to brighten up the space (note: we are not yet using the pillow or quilt for night or naps).

Miss H-accessible closet features all of Miss H’s current clothes, pajamas, and socks all at her level (minus, of course, the dresses).

Miss H wanted to get in on the photos!

We are just in love with Miss H’s space! It’s a very functional space for a growing girl, giving her better access to her clothes and toys and allowing her to hang up her coat and sweatshirt herself. And because we owned so many of these items already, we did not have to purchase very much to make this room happen.
