I recently revealed Miss H’s new “big girl room.” Because it’s a lovely space with lots of natural light, we can finally take her monthly photos in her own room (instead of ours)!

The fun keeps on rolling in the Hopscotch household these days. We love having family dinners together, with Miss H’s new room closer to everything else in the house she is much more independent (meaning we can be more productive in general), and Miss H is a super star when it comes to potty training! For the past month or so she has been consistent with asking to go to the potty, wakes up dry in the morning and after naps, and loves feeling like a big girl who goes potty. We rarely change a diaper that is wet, although we’re still working on the, umm, messy ones. But overall, she’s really into it and is doing awesome!

Miss H’s favorites phrases of the moment are “I don’t like it” and “I don’t want it.” On the flip side, she also says “That’s my favorite” and “I love this one.” It’s fun being able to hear her opinions! One funny one lately has been “It’s too tasty” when she doesn’t like something. So cute.

Our “state of the family” right now is this:

What we’ve learned:  Having family dinners is really revolutionizing our time together. We are spending great quality time as a family, Miss H is more likely to try new foods, and she is developing better table manners. While I don’t know why we didn’t start this sooner, I’m so glad we’re doing it now!

What we’re enjoying right now: Almost anything that comes out of Miss H’s mouth! She says the silliest things and it’s so much fun hearing her discover new words, phrases and learn new songs.

What our biggest struggles are: Molars! Miss H has been getting her 2-year molars for awhile now. She got her first set of molars all at once, but this time around they’re coming in one at a time and she’s pretty miserable. Her hands are always in her mouth and her sleep hasn’t been the best.

What has been Miss H’s most exciting milestone: As mentioned above, I think her really understanding and enjoying potty training has been really awesome. She loves the reward system (she gets a small treat each time), loves wiping and flushing, and is all about washing her hands! She has always been about routine, and this is just another routine built into the day.

What we’re looking forward to: Miss H will be starting daycare in April. I’m very nervous about this transition, however, I think once she adjusts she is going to love being with all of the kids and having the opportunity for lots of music time and art time.
