We received the AquaDoodle Draw ‘n’ Doodle Mat from a friend as a gift, and boy oh boy, does the whole family love this toy!! It’s pretty simple: you fill the pen with water and then you can “draw” with water through the felt tip. Drawing with the water on the mat reveals colors, and when the water dries, the drawings disappear and you can start all over.
The mat’s border contains lots of pictures for inspiration, and the pictures are, in my opinion, ridiculously adorable. LMW loves to point out the different animals.
I’m partial to this bee… hehe.
Wagon Jr. and Lil Miss Wagon both were absolutely delighted with this toy immediately. I love it because coloring with water creates zero mess, and the refillable pen never gets old or runs out. In fact, LMW brought the pen over to the kitchen table and drew on the table’s surface and played with the water that it left behind.
The version we got came with a bonus mini-mat which WJ has totally fallen in love with. There are several squares that you just color completely in with water and drawings are revealed. He was coloring this mini-mat for almost an hour before bedtime one night. As the mini-mat dried, the colors would fade and he would go ahead and color it again. He said to me, “Mommy, do you know what I’m doing? I’m coloring this all by myself with the water pen.”
We may need to purchase some extra pens so they don’t fight over the single pen this version came with!

We got one of these for Christmas (A was 14 months). We keep it on a low shelf, and when I ask “do you want to color?” she’ll go over and get the Aquadoodle and pen. She still loves it (17mo) and kids from 15mo-2.5yrs like to play with it during playdates!
