Last year, I decided to use a picture of Liam eating his birthday cake on the front of his thank you note. To save on postage and paper, I ordered postcards from Zazzle instead of folded or flat cards with envelopes, and I remember seeing them on friends’ and family’s refrigerators for months after the party. I decided to make it a tradition and order photo postcards again to use as thank you notes this year. At first, I put the words “Thank You” over the image on the front, but I decided to just leave the picture as it is because then relatives can frame it as a print, if they want, and nobody would know there was a thank you message on the back. While any thank you note is a nice gesture, I think this is an easy way to make them extra special.
This is the image we chose for the front of Liam’s thank you note postcards this year.
The front of last year’s postcard.
While buying some generic cards at the store or having an older child make cards out of paper would definitely be more cost effective options, the postcards are also photo prints, so I think the cost is worth it. I ordered 30 postcards both times and, after a 15% discount code, paid about $30 including shipping.
I hope to continue to send photo postcards as thank you notes, and I look forward to the time when Liam can write them himself!

I love this idea! Another good/inexpensive source for printing I’ve used is overnightprints.com.

This is really cute! I like using postagram to take a picture of C wearing/using the gift and sending it directly through the app.

I do this too! I’ve used moo.com and like that I can use all the same picture or use a different photo for each card (since sometimes I do have a shot of the gift being used or worn).Liam is so cute!

@mrs. tictactoe: How did you know who to thank for donations?? We “copied” your awesome idea, and asked for unwrapped gifts, and in all the hubbub I can’t remember who all brought donations
I am so upset! We didn’t get a ton so I can’t thank everyone, because there are plenty of folks who definitely didn’t bring any. Is it awkward to ask people that I have vague memories of bringing things?

@daniellemybelle: we asked people to bring a card with their donations so we knew who to thank, but if I were you, I wouldn’t worry about it. I’m sure people don’t expect a thank you note!
