This is the type of dress that is a total no brainer to just throw on. But once you do, you end up looking like it was a very well thought out outfit. Dresses that you can wear every day, dress up or down and still be really comfy. Every day dresses that can be layered and kept for years to come. Basically when I say Every Single Day Summer Dresses, I mean every-single-day.
no.1 Target – no.2 Madewell – no.3 ASOS – no.4 F21 – no.5 Madewell – no.6 The Gap – no.7 ASOS – no.8 Old Navy – no.9 Aritzia – no.10 F21 – no.11 ASOS – no.12 JCrew
Layer a tank or a tee under some of the strappy styles on almost fall days or just days when you’d rather cover up a bit more. Pair with sneakers, sandals, booties or just slide on some ballet flats. Going on a date or a night out with the girls? Take a little extra time on your hair and makeup, add some accessories and maybe some heels – instantly change an every day dress to a night out dress.

That last dress is from Sonnet James; they make play dresses for Moms – basically the ultimate everyday/all season dress.
. . . . .
I often will wear a small pair of shorts underneath, when I’m out with the kids – juuust in case there is a mishap. Do you have a favorite style of dress that you could (almost) literally wear everyday?

I was looking for a dress like #1 so this post came in time. I have the #2 Madewell dress, and love it as an everyday dress – too bad it doesn’t work as well with a pregnant bump.

I’ve been living in dresses similar in style to these all summer! Will have to check some of these out… they’re so easy to slip on, so comfy, and keeps me cool. Thank you!

I have not yet mastered the art of rocking a dress while chasing a toddler, but some of these are soooo cute!

I would say I have a few every single day summer dresses! My favorite is actually one I found on major clearance at Target – simple black, but it has a wrap style for the skirt and a detailed layering effect for the top portion that makes it more than just a simple black cotton dress. It’s dressy enough for work, especially with black strappy heels or ballet flats, but I’ll also wear brown sandals or toms with it for casual days.
I have a beautiful black white striped maxi from target too that I love wearing and get so many compliments on.
And lastly a grey/white stripe dress from GAP that just fits so well. The bummer is that due to my height, it’s a tad too short for work, but I will wear it on the weekends.
Loft is another great place to find sundresses – I have four from there that I love!
Dresses are my summer uniform – basically the only thing I wear!

@birdofafeather: I wear short black bike shorts under all my dresses! I found some cheap at a secondhand store for just a few dollars.

I have been living in dresses all summer!
@Freckles: I have #2 as well and it’s great.. did yours shrink on you? All of my madewell dresses have shrunk 2 inches in the wash (cold wash)!

I would love an “everyday” dress! I love #3 and #11!

@T-Mom: mine hasn’t shrunk yet, at least not noticeably! Do you dry yours? I take mine out of the wash and hang dry! I think I have washed it 3x so far.

@T-Mom: @Freckles: I love that madewell one!!!! Reviews for sizing are mixed – some say size down and other says true to size! What do you think?

@birdofafeather: Little black bike shorts or hot yoga shorts!

@Mamaof2: Mine was true to size, i think? This is why i hate store “vanity” sizing these days…you no longer know what your real size is anymore! I find that the dress is forgiving…it probably also depends on your bust size too.

@Freckles: I have never, ever dried any of my madewell dresses. Every single one of mine has shrunk. I’m starting to hink it must be my detergent or maybe my water isn’t truly “cold” since I live in TX and it’s really hot down here. Boo.
@Mamaof2: I was kind of between sizes for this dress.. the size down was making me look really broad shouldered because the cut exposes a lot of shoulder. So I sized up but it kind of loose around the waist for me. But again, I’m expecting it to shrink since all of my Madewell dresses have shrunk (at this point I’m thinking it’s user error).

I wish I could pull off these shapes! I would look hideous in nearly all of these…

These are really cute but I agree with some other posters, they just wouldn’t work with my body. My shoulders would be too wide, not to mention my bust or my hips. And some of the more forgiving dresses would then draw attention to my stomach. I really wish I could wear such cute styles!
