I need to get a move on and start showing you Bunny’s nursery(s) before things change and we make way for the new baby! So let me back up about two years when we were still living in Italy. Once we found out we had a little bundle on the way, we decided to swap our guest room for a nursery. We were in a tricky spot for creating a room for Bunny since we didn’t know when we were leaving Italy. When I got pregnant, we were under the assumption that we’d leave in May—a mere two months after she was born. The need for a crib and other stuff wasn’t necessary, but I was pregnant, hormonal, and had the urge to nest and decorate however I possibly could with the knowledge of an upcoming move.
So the week my husband returned from his deployment (at 36 weeks pregnant), we bought a crib from the Air Force Base Exchange and made a trip to Ikea. He put everything together in a few hours, and within minutes of seeing it all set up in her room, I finally let out a long sigh of relief. Not having a room set up for her left me so anxious, but after those three things were built, I felt ready.
Then we found out that we weren’t moving until July, not May, so having more room for her things turned out to be a very good thing. It’s amazing how much baby stuff you can accumulate!
Her room in Italy was my favorite room in the house; I loved how much natural light flowed through and how peaceful it was in there. I took these pictures just before the movers came, because I knew I wanted to capture her very first space. (Not pictured is a glider we had, but sold a few days earlier.)
Since we knew we’d be leaving, painting was just a silly notion that I didn’t even bother considering, especially since I was alone most of the pregnancy. I kept things simple with her room, making it just girly enough to curb my inner need to decorate. Without even realizing it, her nursery was travel themed, and I loved it! I reused items from her travel-themed baby shower and I decided to incorporate the travel photos of London and Paris I took that were already hanging in the guest room. I added in a few other knickknacks that I accumulated over the course of my pregnancy, and everything just fell into place.
What’s in her room (and where to find it):
Crib: Delta Enterprise Glenwood 3-in-1 Sleigh Crib
Dressers and side table: Ikea Hemnes bedroom series
Floor lamp: Ikea Magnarp floor lamp
Lamp on dresser: Ikea Arstid table lamp
Pink faux suitcase: bought it in Savannah, GA, but these are Cargo Cool Euro Suitcases from Amazon
Gray rug: Ikea Gislev rug (website isn’t showing it available, but I was at Ikea last week and they still had it in the store)
Pink rug: garage sale find
Map Pinwheel: decoration from baby shower, instructions here
Pink polka-dot piggy bank: Tiffany & Co. Piggy Bank (full disclosure: bought this in Italy at a ceramic store for a 10th of the price)

very nice…especially like the dresser as changing table, and the ikea rug is very pretty.

I love it! Especially all the travel accents- we did the same for Baby C. And I totally hear you on having a place for baby- we were in the NICU for 10 days after a 4 week early delivery and even though our nursery was mostly done, I made hubby put up all the pictures and finalize everything before we got baby home.
