After a miscarriage and trying for a year, we are now 14 weeks pregnant with a baby girl! We are so excited and I feel so lucky.

My NT scan was on Liam’s first day of preschool and sadly, my husband couldn’t make it. The only appointment they had was in the afternoon, so I had to take Liam with me because I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to pick him up in time, and I didn’t want him to be at school that late on his first day. I was nervous about him coming with me, but he was such a good boy and he loved seeing the baby and especially listening to her heartbeat.Even though it is still considered early to determine the sex of the baby, the ultrasound tech said she was 100% positive it is a girl. She could clearly see between the legs and she said if there was a penis, she would have seen it.

After the scan, we went to Carter’s because they were having a big sale and got Liam some new PJs. I just couldn’t resist getting something for his new baby sister, so I picked up her first outfit, too.

My husband didn’t want me to just call or text him with the news if we found out the sex; he wanted me to wait until he got home, so I decided to have some fun and I put together a pink dinner. I made him wait in the backyard until it was all set up and this is what he saw when he walked in!

I made pink fish (salmon), pink mashed potatoes (food coloring), bought pink lemonade cupcakes, pink wine (rose), pink flowers, and made a female sign out of green beans, since I wanted a vegetable and couldn’t think of a pink one that I wanted to eat. The mashed potatoes looked like homemade play doh, but they tasted delicious!

He laughed and gave me a big hug and kiss, then got really nervous for being a dad to a girl. He is very excited, though, as is Liam!
