During all of our house selling/hunting madness, I had a very hard time connecting with my twin pregnancy because I didn’t know where we’d be living when we brought them home from the hospital. Which meant I couldn’t visualize their nursery – would it be a big or small room? Hardwood floors or carpet? Could I fit a big dresser in the room or did I need a tiny one?
Needless to say, once we were under contract with our new home, I was thrilled to finally have a room for the twins! And while it’s not a huge room, it has two great windows, hardwood floors, a big closet, and is right next to our master bedroom!
We finally finished setting up the room, and I’m so excited to share! The walls are still a little bit bare, but that’s because we want to leave room to hang family photos and birth announcements after the twins arrive!
I am in love with these cribs and love how the triangle decals look above them!
We sold our old rocker and brought a super comfortable glider – it’s awesome! And fortunately we already had an ottoman that matched the room.
Instead of a traditional dresser, we opted for a cabinet that allows for a lot of storage – especially for cloth diapers! We will keep the bulk of their clothes in their closet.
We’ll eventually add more art to this wall. And I love the books and our Bright Lab Lights right by the glider!
I started planning the room by finding fabric for the sheets – an indigo for baby boy’s crib and coral for baby girl’s! They are different patterns but by the same designer so they coordinate. And hanging above is the Audrey Hepburn quote, “The best thing to hold onto in life is each other.”
I absolutely love how the room turned out – it’s such a calm space! And while it’s tight to have two cribs in there, plus a changing table and glider, we’ve managed to make the best use of the space.
Baby Mod Modena Mod Cribs: We bought a Baby Mod crib for Miss H and it has held up well. Since we had two cribs to buy this time around, I didn’t hesitate to look at Baby Mod again. I love the two tone look of these cribs, especially because there is no chance of Miss H comparing these cribs to her own!
Audrey Hepburn Quote: I searched high and low for a print that would work well in this room. When I came across this print from Etsy seller Heartsees, I was smitten. “The best thing to hold onto in life is each other” just seemed perfect for our little twins! The owner of the shop did a custom order for me in our nursery colors and I was able to have her frame it, which made my life even easier. It’s perfect!
Land of Nod Toby Glider: Earlier in my pregnancy I decided that if I was going to have twins, I was going to invest in a truly comfortable glider because I assume I’ll be logging a lot of hours in it! And the rocker we had for Miss H was not comfortable for nursing. I sat in every glider at Land of Nod until I came across the Toby – it is so comfortable while being a little bit slimmer in design for a small room.
Rugs USA Radiante Nuo Chevron Ikat Rug: I spent forever searching for a rug that would complement the room. And while I’m not terribly into chevron anymore, I love the look, quality, and texture of this rug.
Triangle Decals: I loved putting up polka dot decals in Miss H’s room, and the fabric decals (instead of vinyl) can be moved around as much as you’d like (Miss H’s did great for our move to the new house!). I think the triangles from Sunny Decals look great in the room.
Coral Crib Fabric & Indigo Crib Fabric: Once I decided to do coral and navy in the room, I searched long and hard for fabric that coordinated without being matchy-matchy. When I found these fabrics by Camelot Cottons, I was sold! They’re from the same line but not quite the same design. So I bought 4 yards of each right away and my mom whipped up crib sheets (I made the ones for Miss H but didn’t have time to make these because of our move). The downside is that the blue fabric is indigo (as the description states) so in real life it does lean a little bit more toward purple. But I still love it!
Changing Table Cabinet: I like purchasing vintage furniture that’s been re-purposed, and one business I’ve bought a few pieces from locally is District Chicago. If you’re in the Chicago-area, Chris at District is awesome to work with on custom pieces. While I was initially looking for a dresser, he sourced this cabinet for us, which perfectly matched the dimensions we wanted, and then custom-painted it. It will be great for a changing table and has tons of storage for cloth diapers, wipes, extra bedding, etc.
IKEA Bekvam Spice Rack Bookshelves: Like many, many, many others out there, we love this option for kids’ room bookshelves! At $3.99 a shelf they’re affordable and the design is great for holding books while making them easy to access for little fingers. We went through Miss H’s “baby books” and picked out a selection for the twins!
Bright Lab Lights: I came across these lights on a blog and was intrigued. Since we don’t have room for a table lamp or a floor lamp, I was struggling with how we were going to get some soft light into the room. I debated ordering from Bright Lab, but couldn’t decide if they were worth it. After not finding another good option, I decided to bight the bullet and purchased a set with coral, indigo, and silver. They arrived within a week and while assembly wasn’t the easiest process, I am in love with the final result. They coordinate perfectly with the room and create a lovely glow! While not quite bright enough to read a book by, they’ll be great for when I’m in there nursing or for a quick diaper change.
Now that the room is set up, teeny tiny baby clothes are organized, and diapers are ready and waiting, we just need two little twins to complete the room!

It looks amazing! Great job! It’s hard to set up twin nurseries, and I think it’s always going to feel cramped, but it looks like “home.” Can’t wait for them to arrive
