October is my favorite month of the year because it has the best fall weather, and I love Halloween! Charlie has decided to go as Captain America, and Olive wanted to be Dora but it’s going to be too cold so she’s going as a black cat. Your tiniest ones will probably look adorable whatever costume they wear, but here is a roundup of some of the most adorable costumes for boys and girls I’ve found around the web. Some you can buy and some you can DIY!
Row 1: Marie Antoinette | Annie | Lamb | Jessie from Toy Story
Row 2: Care Bear | Nesting Doll | Twink from Rainbow Brite | Alice in Wonderland
Row 3: Cloud (another adorable option here) | Ice Cream Sundae | Cotton Candy | Ghost
Row 4: Lion | Madeline | Mary Poppins | Fantastic Mr. Fox
Row 5:Rockford Peach from A League of Their Own | Owl | Peacock | Pippi Longstocking
Row 6: Raggedy Ann | Rainbow | Little Red Riding Hood | Wings
Row 1: DIY Wolf Hoodie | Plastic Army Soldier | Dinosaur | ET
Row 2: Piñata | James and the Giant Peach | Legend of Zelda/Elf | Mummy
Row 3: Scarecrow | Sherlock Holmes | Where’s Waldo | Charlie Brown
Row 4: | Humpty Dumpty | The Man with the Yellow Hat (and Curious George) | Pillsbury Doughboy | Pinocchio
Which one is your favorite? What will your little one be going as for Halloween?

Awww Liam made the cut! I am still so proud of that costume…
This year Liam is going to be a fire fighter, and, while I didn’t buy the complete costume, I also am not DIYing much, which makes me a little sad. But he’s going to be so cute!!

@mrs. tictactoe: Just was looking at your post about DIY-ing the dino costume–so cute!! Question–is a sewing machine necessary or do you think you could do it by hand? I have never sewn anything in my life and don’t have a machine, and wouldn’t want to buy one for one project…could I get away with just doing it by hand? Or is it going to be a disaster?

I wanted my daughter to be Madeline (love that pic you featured), but she declined. We were almost going to do the dino costume you featured, but instead she has decided she wants to be a fire truck. Not a fire fighter – a fire truck. We’re going to decorate a cardboard box for her to wear. It’s going to be adorable. Can’t wait!

I love these! I’m going back and forth between making Baby C a Matryoshka doll or a peacock.

@hilsy85: Yes, I did most of it by hand. I only did a couple of long straight lines with the machine.

Aw, I love these! I’ll have to remember the Annie costume for next year. M’s going as a bumblebee this year.

We’ll be in St Thomas this year for Halloween but I still want to take costumes!! But they have to be small! I *REALLY* want to dress my 4 year old as Rickie Flowler (Puma hat, polo, kickers, argyle socks) and have his 2 year old sister be his caddy. (Make a smock with his name on it and maybe a felt golf bag she can carry). I doubt my hubby will let me spend the ridiculous money on the polo/hat to be true Rickie Fowler – he’ll be wearing it for the next 3 years AT LEAST so I think we’d get our money’s worth!

I made Martha Stewart’s chicken costume for Alec last year when I convinced him to be a rooster despite his insistance that he “just wants to be Alec”. Trying to force him into the costume was a parenting low for me (we both cried). But the costume was adorable. I now accept that he really does not like dress-up but I’m hoping that one of the other two will get into it. I have a friend who dressed her one year old who had just started walking as a drunk sailor last year. It was amazing. The year before she was swaddled as a veggie burrito. Also great!

OMG, I love the Rockford Peach one!

Speaking of waddling… we have a chicken/duck costume we pass down and all the cousins have worn it when they have been 14-18 months old. The costume itself is cute – but the waddle of an unsteady toddler makes it ADORABLE!!!
I love drunk sailor! Too cute!
