The super cozy and warm winner this fall goes to the oversized sweater look. It’s a great addition to your layer game and a ridiculous easy look for everyone to pull off. For some of you this look might be questionable, but you don’t have to do super oversized to “get the look” and it doesn’t have to be sloppy either. I know the term oversized doesn’t leave the best picture in your mind, so let’s get to the pictures already.

It’s a pretty casual look, but can be dressed up if your sweater isn’t too oversized and if it’s paired right.

The best part about this whole look is it’s easy to shop for. You can buy an already oversized sweater, buy a sweater you like but go up a size or two, or shop in your other half’s closet.
And even though it is easy to pull off, it’s always fun to see it in action.
slim jeans: it’s a good rule of thumb when you are wearing an item that is oversized, to keep the rest of the attire on the slimmer side. slim jeans – grey sweater – sneakers.
fitted skirt: same rule, keep the bottom half on the slimmer fitting side – this time grab that classic no fail pencil skit (this one is a comfy knit). pencil skirt – grey sweater – boots.
layered: layer over a button down or a comfy tee with a longer hem. Good for over jeans, a skirt, or dress pants. slim jeans – white scooped tee – grey sweater – slim jeans – boots.
*Also, I realized I didn’t show it but the right oversized sweater, could be a great transitional layer over your favorite summer dress – it’s worth a try!
What do you think, oversized sweaters for everyone? Which is your favorite look or sweater?

Cute sweaters, but I wonder how these would look on a larger women with a big chest. One thing I will definitely be able to pull off are the Vans!

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: I was just going to say this! It would be great of you could include women of different sizes in these style examples… I just don’t see it working for me.

I suspect I couldn’t pull this look off. I can’t wear skinny jeans/pants in general… not sure I’d want to be even larger on top with the sweater!
I need to see a pear-shaped lady wearing this to get an idea if this would work for me or not!

Cute look! But yeah would never work for me. These would make me look even bigger.

Reminds me of my moms sweaters in the 80s, and she still has them! I should raid her closet.

Not a fan – I think it looks sloppy

I would also love to see different body types represented in the examples. I’m getting a bit tired of seeing very thin women represented.

I love big sweaters, and I’m definitely not a fashion or styling expert, but I think they work well for larger women if it’s the right type of sweater and look. I’m short (5’1) and top heavy (220 lbs, 40D bra), and I do wear skinny jeans with a more bulky top, it just has to be done right. I would go for the lighter sweaters (like No 1, 7 and 9) and avoid the heavier cable-knits, because those are thicker and do make you look way bigger, and the sweater should be longer (hit about mid-thigh or a bit higher), but not too long to avoid that baggy look.

I love oversized sweaters! I told myself I wouldn’t buy any this winter bc I barely got a chance to wear the ones I bought last winter – CA has been having such warm winters!

@Mrs. Tiger: @Mrs. Lemon-Lime: @MrsKoala: I think it would be a style anyone could pull off, maybe focusing on the less chunky style of sweaters and not overly long in length.
I do always try to represent different sizes in these posts, sometimes I don’t do as well (like maybe this post) as I planned. I will try and make it more of a priority going forward, thank you for the feedback!

i really like this look — super comfy, too
I think a raglan cut in the sweater helps to make things not so boxy looking. I always look for that.
or the dropped shoulder cut.

LOVE all these pictures. i just wish i was as skinny as the models because i think oversized anything looks best on skinny. i’m always scared about doing oversized and it looking as though i’m fat
