There are a lot of exciting things about having a girl, and one of them is planning a girly baby shower or sprinkle. I know someone usually plans the shower or sprinkle for the pregnant woman, but I love planning parties, so I’ve started thinking about how to have a fun party to honor our baby girl, while not breaking the bank.

Etsy  |  Paperless Post

There are so many beautiful baby shower invitation options out there, and it was really hard for me to pick my favorites. I love the sparkles on this one from Etsy and the hearts add a nice detail. Since I love Paperless Post, I thought this simple gold heart invitation was perfect for a modern, girly baby shower or sprinkle. This one isn’t free, but compared to traditional paper invitations, it is still very inexpensive.

Restaurant  |  Home or Park

For Liam’s shower, we had it at my mom’s restaurant, which we might do again for my sprinkle. It was very convenient because they provided the food and drinks, as well as everything needed to eat and drink with. This option can be pricey, though, especially if your mom doesn’t manage the restaurant. I’ve been to many beautiful showers and people’s homes and, while I was doing some research, I realized a baby shower in a park could be lovely as well. Lay out some picnic blankets and bring a small table or use the picnic tables at the park for food and drinks.

Nail Polish  |  Chocolates

Nail polish makes a really cute favor, but with gel manicures, wraps, and, my favorite, vinylux so popular these days, I don’t know if everyone would use it and I wouldn’t want it to go to waste. I like edible favors, so in keeping with the gold heart theme, I’d buy a bunch of these chocolates in bulk and put some in a cellophane bag tied with pink ribbon for each guest. Easy, inexpensive, and delicious!

Heart Wall Decal Backdrop  |  Gold Heart BalloonsInspiration

I thought about getting a wall decal like this one for the nursery, but decided against it. If you could use it for both the shower and the baby’s room, it would be more worth it, but $60 is a lot for just one decor element at a party. For $2 each plus the cost of helium, these gold heart balloons could be displayed all around the room for a greater impact at a fraction of the cost. Add some pink tissue paper fringe for extra flair.

Catered/Restaurant  |  DIY Brunch – Inspiration

For Liam’s shower, we had amazing food from the restaurant my mom manages. Most of it they don’t even serve in the restaurant; we got to pick special items just for the party. The shower was at lunchtime and the food was delicious, but not cheap. For my sprinkle, I was thinking about bringing in most of the food and beverages to cut down on the cost. Breakfast or brunch foods can be easier to prepare and less expensive than lunch or dinner foods. I’m planning on serving bagels with lox, fruit, an egg bake, and some pastries, including my favorite, donuts.

Games  |  Mingle or Paper Flowers

Usually baby shower games and activities can be done very inexpensively. However, with games there are prizes, which can definitely add up. I have a few paper flower kits leftover from my bridal shower years ago, so I was thinking we could make those at the sprinkle as a sort of activity. I plan to use them in the nursery, so it would be a cost effective and fun way to add decor to the room. I also think it’s fun to just mingle and enjoy each other’s company at showers and no games or activities are really needed.

Custom Bakery Cake  |  Cupcake Toppers

This pink ombre cake with a gold heart topper is so pretty and probably very delicious. If you are a talented baker, you could make a cake like that on your own, or another option is to buy plain cupcakes from the grocery store and add cute toppers to them. I don’t think we will have cake at all at my sprinkle, though, probably just some sweet treats like donuts and pastries, but I can make those cupcake toppers and put them in donuts, too!
