My friend Minhee wanted to make Charlie a party hat at the last minute and looked at what she already had around her apartment. Her eyes landed on some cupcake liners, and she decided to make little elf hats! This is an easy DIY that you can personalize any way you want and bring a little color to your event!
Here’s what you’ll need:
- cone water cups
- colorful cupcake liners
- pom poms
- glitter
- elastic tinsel cord
- 1/16 circle hole punch
- scissors
- Elmer’s glue
- hot glue gun
Hot glue a cupcake liner to the inside of the cone cup and hot glue a pom pom to the top. Then punch a hole on both sides of the cup where the tinsel cord will be threaded.
Thread the elastic through one hole and tie a knot to secure. Measure your little one’s head to get the sizing right, then thread the elastic through the other hole and tie a knot.
You can free-hand any design you want on the hat with glue, or draw it on with pencil first, then apply glitter. We didn’t have much time so we only decorated Charlie’s hat and left everyone else’s plain.
This gives a personalized touch and is a super easy DIY even those of us who are craft challenged can complete!
