The book Guess How Much I Love You has been a favorite of mine since it came out. It’s just so very sweet, and Little Nutbrown Hare is too cute. The phrase “I love you to the moon and back” is especially lovely, and was the inspiration for this printable wall art. I also happen to like adding happy faces to things, so you get a happy moon!
Print the pieces, add some felt and ribbon, then hang the decoration in the nursery or your child’s bedroom for a reminder of this story, and even better, of the love you share!
You will need:
Love You To The Moon Printable
Felt
Embroidery Floss
Ribbon
Craft Glue
Scissors
Needle
Print the PDF on card stock, then cut out the pieces. Cut the shapes from felt as well.
Cut a piece of embroidery floss and split the thread into two pieces of three strands each. Thread a needle and knot the other end. Stitch through the felt so that the knot will be between the felt and the printed card stock.
Sew the layers together with whip stitch, stitching around the edge of the shapes. Do this for each piece of the wall art.
Cut a 2-1/2 feet piece of ribbon, and glue it to the back of the pieces, working from the bottom up and leaving about 8 inches at the top.
Fold the extra ribbon at the top and tie an overhand knot. This will be the hanger.
After the glue has dried, hang your artwork up, and read this classic story!
The felt stitches and backing on this artwork give it some weight as well as making it look a little more finished. However, it’s completely optional. You can make this simpler by just taping the ribbon to the back of your printed pieces. Or even make it double-sided by printing two copies and sticking them back to back! Just be sure to used double-sided tape, because glue may cause ripples in the card stock.
Happy Crafting!
