Any major life changes seem to come with checklists, charts and pro/con lists. I process things in list form; that’s really just how I cope. And when it comes to a new baby, one of the first things that popped into my mind was a list of everything we need for baby #2. By checking things off of this list, I feel like I’m getting more prepared (regardless of how true that is).
Here’s the thing. There isn’t really much we need for baby #2. Having two kids close together in age mean that virtually everything we used for Little Oats is still in great condition. If Baby Oats is a boy, we’ll need some new clothes, but other than that, we’re pretty much set. But, a list has to be made, and this list is all the things I’d love to buy for Baby Oats.
1) Crane teardrop humidifier: Not just the plain, industrial-looking humidifier we have already, this one is adorable, functional, and will blend into a room well.
2) Zutano baby booties: These fleece booties are perfect for our fall baby; cozy and warm, gender neutral, and they look like they might actually stay on pudgy, squirmy little baby feet
3) Britax B-Agile Double: We aren’t buying a double stroller, but if we were going to, it would be the Britax B-Agile. We love our single, and I’m sure the double would be just as great!
4) Turtle wubbanub: Little Oats never took to a pacifier, so even though we got her a Wubbanub, she just drags it around like another toy. Hopefully, Baby Oats likes a pacifier…and this turtle is adorable!
5) Kersey Glider/Recliner: Little Oats’ nursery is home to the rocking chair that Mr O was rocked in as a baby, and we love it. But, if cost (and space) were no issue, we’d definitely get a comfy upholstered glider/recliner.
6) Petunia Pickle Bottom City Carryall: The diaper bag we have is on the smaller side; there’s no way it will work for two kids. This is my dream bag.
7) iPad Mini: If cost were absolutely not a factor, I’d get myself a brand new iPad mini. All of those late night feeding sessions are ample time to catch up on some Hellobee-ing, and it would be great to have a screen that’s a little bigger than my phone (and something shiny and new!).
8) Aden and Anais swaddles: These are something on the list that I’ve actually gone out and purchased. People seriously rave about these, and after a swaddle-loving first baby, I’d love to give these a try with baby 2.
9) 4Moms MamaRoo: I think this ‘swing’ is so, so cool. I love that there are different options for swing motion, and it’s got a pretty small footprint, as well.
10) Tula baby carrier: Again, with Little Oats, we were late to the babywearing game. But this time around, babywearing is pretty much going to be my only option for actually getting out of the house…so we’re getting either an Ergo or a Tula. The Ergo is more cost-effective, but I’ve got a serious Tula crush.

I’m totally crushing on Tula’s too! But I just got the Ergo 360 since there was a great deal on Target.

We have the crane humidifier and really like it. The mamaroo is super cool, but DS didn’t enjoy it much so it hardly got used. Boo!
As for the Ergo, I absolutely loved that thing!! I could carry DS in it all day long and he’d never complain. I couldn’t even really feel the weight of him either while everyone was worried I’d be tired or sore. Because of the Ergo, we were able to enjoy our vacation like we didn’t have a kid even though DS was in tow everywhere we went. So, so thankful DS loved it as much as I did!

I actually bought a iPad mini for the exact reason you list. It’s easy to use one handed while nursing! Although it’s increased my online shopping… The. Etsy app is dangerous ! And during 3am feedings i buy anything that claims to help baby sleep.

I love my Tula more than life. Can’t tell you how many times it has saved the day. And from what I hear, you can wear baby comfortably in it to a higher weight. My baby is 9 months, and we’ve used the stroller a grand total of 3 times!

@snowjewelz: @Sarah: I actually bought a Tula since I wrote this post haha. We love it- I can carry my 19 month old easily!
@lady grey: I’ve only seen them, never used them- so good to know! Might get a pair!

I had an Ergo with DD1 and we used it all the time from 5 months to 2 years. When I had DD2 I found out about the Tula works and got a Spotted Love. BUT on a whim I bought a LennyLamb ergo and I LOVE it. It’s a wrap conversation for the price of a canvas Tula and it’s keep amazingly buttery right out of the packaging! I reach for the Tula as my backup when I forget my LL and am thinking of selling my Tula soon.

The zutano booties really are wonderful and stay on really well!! We love the Crane humidifiers too but found that the teardrop one is terribly noisy compared to the cute animal-shaped ones! We have the frog and the owl for kids’ rooms and went with the elephant for our room after returning the more “grownup” teardrop due to noise.

We are pregnant with baby 2 as well and have to add a few things to our house. I so want the Mamaroo but I think we are going to go with a traditional swing to save some $$$. And yes the Aden & Anais blankets are the best! I am going to restock our supply because we used them nonstop for a year–after you are done swaddling they are great as sunblockers for the stroller, and even a nursing shield!
