I’m more than half way through this pregnancy and just like many I know or have met along the way, I wonder what I am carrying inside of me. While I don’t regret choosing to be Team Green (much the chagrin of many of my family and friends who are ever so curious), it doesn’t mean I don’t wonder and sometimes wish I knew who was coming to join our family as well. I sometimes dream about a little boy, a brother for Drake to rough house with and play in the dirt (though Juliet is doing a fine job right now keeping him company). I sometimes dream of a little girl, someone to share Juliet’s extensive wardrobe with and how thrilled Drake would be to have another “Juliet.” My own guesses have been all over the place; I initially thought boy and now I’m on girl recently. When I was pregnant with Drake I did the same thing — think boy and then changed to girl around 20 weeks and then eventually went back to boy, which turned out to be correct. So I wonder if eventually I’ll switch to boy again. In the meantime I thought it might be fun to see what those Old Wives Tales about gender predict. Maybe a clear winner will find itself through these methods of prediction.

Chinese Gender Chart –  There are lots of versions of the gender chart online (which I don’t really get since it’s suppose to be taken from an actual scroll), but most of them have accurately predicted Drake was supposed to be a boy. Juliet was predicted to be a boy while others had her as girl. I have tried with this baby and have come up with both girl and boy as well, leaning more towards the girl leaning more. I’ll go with Girl for this one.

Cravings – They say if you crave salty it’s a boy, sweets a girl. I am by nature more a salty person, and I don’t like a ton of sweets (save my precious chocolate). But I do remember with my pregnancy with Juliet craving more sweets and eating ice cream, smores, and cookies a lot more. This time I also ramped up my sweets intake so I’ll say Girl.

Skin – Girls steal your beauty and boys give it to you; if that’s the case this is a girl girl girl for sure. I have been breaking out since before I knew I was even pregnant and it hasn’t stopped. It’s awful. I’m tempted to say twin girls… that’s how bad it’s been. Girl.

Heart rate – This is another one I don’t really have a lot of faith in. The saying goes if heart rates are over 140 then it’s a boy, under and it’s a girl. I don’t think I have ever had a heart rate under 140 in any of my pregnancies. This would be a Boy if it were true.

Carrying – Carrying high it’s a girl, carrying low it’s a boy. I think I carry the same with all my pregnancies — low. My mom was so convinced about this one when I was pregnant with Juliet that she didn’t believe she was a girl even after we found out the sex while pregnant. She even asked after I gave birth to her whether she was a boy. I think I just carry the same way every time, but if the saying is true then Boy.

Dry Skin – If you have drier skin it’s a boy, normal skin it’s a girl. I’m kinda 50/50 on this but leaning toward Boy since I find myself scratching a lot if I forget to use lotion.

Moods – I’ve heard if you are moodier than normal it’s a girl because of the extra girl hormones inside; if you are less moody it’s a boy because a lack of those hormones. In this case I’m going with Girl.

Face – A rounder fuller face means a girl, a longer narrower face means a boy. Honestly I think I look more worn down this time (being pregnant with 2 small kids will do that to you) so I don’t think my face has filled out as much  I do remember it being fuller with Juliet though so I’m going with Boy.

Weight – If most of the weight gain goes right to your belly it’s a boy; if it spreads out everywhere else its a girl. With Juliet it definitely spread out more than it did with Drake’s pregnancy. This one is more belly so Boy.

Cold Feet – If your extremities are colder than normal it’s a boy; if it stays about the same it’s a girl. I normally am always cold in general but I don’t feel more cold than I normally do and have been breaking out the flip flops in the warmer 60 degree weather we have been having so I’ll say Girl.

So it seems after all these symptoms I could be having either a boy or a girl! Am I missing any other methods of guessing?
