I always loved looking to see what new books were coming by my favorite authors and would keep tabs of author pages’ to anticipate coming down the pipes. Nowadays the only books I read are to my kids, but the pattern hasn’t changed and I wait over their books. These are some titles we are anxiously awaiting in the coming months:

Book-Wishlist-for-2-Year-Olds

1) The Little Bird Who Lost His Song (May 5, 2015) – We are big fans of Jedda Robaard and her sweet illustrations and adorable flap books. Juliet’s aunt and uncle got her The Little Lion Who Lost Her Roar for Christmas and I was smitten from the start. Juliet loves flap books so we have slowly been collecting the series.

2) Peek A Boo Zoo  (June 30, 2015) – Joyce Wan is also another favorite author in this house. We have almost all her books and between the short sweet stories and fun illustrations, we can’t wait to add this one to our library.

3) On My Beach (June 30, 2015) – We have a few of these puppet board books. Drake loved them when he was small and Juliet does as well.

4) Hi (Animal Words) (May 5, 2015) – A cute rhyming story with animal noises right up to a little boy’s hello. The illustrations are fun and cute and perfect to entertain my two.

5) I’m A Ballerina (July 14, 2015) – Golden Books have been around forever and I still remember reading some as a child. The cover illustration is what really got me about this book. Juliet also loves to dance and I want to sign her up for dance classes when she is older, if only to see her twirl around in a tutu.

6) Deep Deep Sea  (May 1, 2015) – The cover looks so bright and appealing and Juliet loves fishies, so it seems like a great book to start teaching her about colors, numbers, and underwater animals.

7) Can You Say It Too? Quack Quack (May 5, 2015) – We love animals and flap books in this house! Juliet has learned to recognize a lot of animals by their sounds, so this one might be perfect to hone in on that interest.

8) What A Wonderful World (June 2015) –  I normally don’t buy books based on songs, but It’s A Wonderful World has a sentimental factor for me as the song I danced to with my daddy at my wedding.

9) Hello Kitty First Words  (May 1, 2015) –  While this is probably no better or different than any other First Word book, Hello Kitty and Sanrio bring me back to my own childhood and we don’t have a lot of Hello Kitty in our home.

Book-Wishlist-for-5-Year-Olds

1) This is Sadie (May 12, 2015) – I have heard great buzz about this book about a little girl and her imagination. I love the cover and can’t wait to buy this one!

2) Never Tickle a Tiger (June 30, 2015) – Izzy is always shuffling, jiggling, squirming and twitching. She just can’t keep still is how this book starts. I can’t imagine who that reminds me of!  What happens when she doesn’t listen on a class trip to the zoo? I think Drake is going to relate and love this one so much.

3) The Blue Whale (June 9, 2015) – This is actually a nonfiction book, but it’s so beautifully illustrated I have been waiting on it for a while. Drake is starting to want to delve deeper into the animals he loves so much. Books like this would capture his attention visually while also providing detailed facts.

4) Where’s The Pair (April 28, 2015) –  We have several of these interactive books by Britta Teckentrup and Drake loves them. They are especially great for car trips and waiting rooms.

5) Octonauts (May 5, 2015) – The Octonauts are actually releasing two books on the same day in their little series. Though the books are a little different from the older ones we have, since the series has become more popular the characters are still the same and Drake loves all their underwater adventures. We are slowly collecting every book in the series.

6) Bear Counts (May 12, 2015) – This one might fall more in with Juliet’s range, but Bear is such a familiar character to Drake since we love reading the Bear series by Karma Wilson. We haven’t picked up her Color book done in similar format that was released last September, but if the characters and rhymes are as similar as Bear’s stories I know it’ll be a big hit in this house.

7) Float (June 9, 2015) – This is a wordless book about a little boy’s paper sailboat. I love wordless books as they really allow a child’s own words and imagination take over, and allow you to see a little piece into their thoughts.

8) Where Does Kitty Go In The Rain (May 19, 2015) – Drake is fascinated when the weather changes. He knows that animals respond differently to the weather and some come out during the rain and snow vs others going away. This book is supposed to be a mix of facts as well as a story about a girl searching for her cat on a rainy day.

9) Have You Seen My Monster (May 7, 2015) – I have been dying to read Have You Seen My Dragon since I heard great things about it. This is the follow up in the series.
