I was already an “undereye bag lady” since my college years, so I knew it was going to get much worse when I became a parent! There are no words for what sleep deprivation does to your body, especially your face. After I came out of the cloud of postpartum depression and actually started to care about looking human again, I continued my search for the best undereye concealers. The verdict? I’m still searching, but here are my top contenders.
1) Prescriptives Flawless Skin Concealer – $24
This was my go-to concealer for many years because it is extremely lightweight and gives great coverage! Even as you dab with it, you can feel the silkiness and transparency of the texture. The Prescriptives line suggests you get 2 colors: 1 “warm” and 1 “cool” color to blend for the perfect combination. I like how the concealer comes with a little mirror so I can quickly dab it as the day goes by for a quick fix up.
2) Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat Radiant Touch – $42
I remember using this ages ago and that it was the biggest “it” item for under eye concealers for a long time. The coverage is a bit more liquidly and the colors are not as exact for my yellowish skin tone, but it is long lasting and so many people swear by it that I have to suggest it for others in case it is their miracle worker as well. I don’t really like the brush applicator either, but I suppose it makes it easier for applying on the go!
3) Laura Mercier High Concealer for Under Eyes – $29
This is my most recent purchase and so far I really like how a small little bit goes a long way. It’s very thick so I suggest putting it on right after you put on your eye cream for the day. It definitely brightens the eye area so make sure you blend thoroughly and continue to blend with your foundation or powder color. I’m a huge fan of this line in general because the colors and the textures always seem to be more golden, honey colored and neutral.
4) Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer – $29
I personally don’t like applicators like this (similar to a lip gloss) but other than that, the coverage and colors seem pretty great. The lady behind the counter mentioned that the color “vanilla” works beautifully on many different face shades. This also brightens around the eyes so you can look more awake. And alive!
5) Bobbi Brown Foundation Stick – $44
I use this foundation stick right after I use a concealer and the texture and colors are a perfect match for me. It’s very simple and easy to apply for a quick fix. Currently, I use this with the Laura Mercier concealer and combined they make a great cover up.
6) Makeup Forever Full Cover Concealer – $32
I love all of Makeup Forever’s products but they definitely veer on the full coverage side. This would be a more thick and heavy coverage so I recommend applying some good moisturizers and primers so that it doesn’t become cakey. This can be used for your whole face, not just your eyes.
. . . . .
Even after all this research and spending tons of money on under eye treatment products, I still get told “you look tired.” (Seriously, that question should be taken out of the English language!)
Anyone else have other under eye products they would like to share?

I don’t really know anything about makeup but I recently got the NARS concealer from Sephora. I apply with a brush and it really seems to make a difference.
I feel terrible because LO got my dark under eye circles (I was born with them too). I’ve got to make an effort not to say anything to LO about it. My parents always talked about mine so I’ve always been sensitive about them.

Yes yes yes to Laura Mercier! You dont even want to know what kind of dark circles I have and this is the ONLY undereye concealer that works. I have tried them all!!!!!

@Corduroy: OMG I bet our LO will have them too! I have had them my whole life, as had my sister!

@Corduroy: @wrkbrk: add me to the list of babies-born-with-dark-circles. Nothing very cherubic about that, I looked like an exhausted infant! My LOs both have it to some extent, but not as bad as mine (DH, of course, has bright eyes and long lashes, wtf?) I’m thankful that they’re boys and probably won’t care much about this stuff anyway
ETA – I’m going to have to try Laura Mercier. I’ve been cheaping out with Almay Bright Eyes concealer stick, or something like that, but it has the lip-glossy type application that I really don’t like and I don’t think it’s working very well. That could be the toddler and the infant, though. I just assumed the circles were inevitable and unconquerable.

I swear by the Becca brand at sephora. It’s in a pot, and it’s tackier than most others. I have never found one better!

I guess I need help because I still at age 33 don’t feel like I know how to apply it right! It always looks to me like I can see the concealer. Gah!

@Mrs. Bee: Oh I will definitely check it out! But holy cow, $70?!?! :O However, I will throw money at anything that really does the job. Since Nordstroms sells it, I should try it out first!
@Corduroy: I’ve always had them too! And my mom has them.. so what can we do… oh well!
@wrkbrk: Yes, me too! It’s currently my #1 fav so far. My husband doesn’t have them so we’ll see if LO gets them… hopefully not!
@keepcalmcarrie: LOL..unconquerable! I have dark circles AND puffy eyes. I try to use bronzer and have color in my face elsewhere to distract the attention. It’s a hard life!!
@LibbyLou: Oh I’ve never heard of their concealer but I like Becca! Will check out!
@kml636: I hear ya… I only started wearing sunblock a couple years ago and I’m 32… eek! Concealer is so tricky, but the color match is everything!!

I love Mac studio conceal and correct palette– it has 6 different shades you can mix and match. I’ve also used Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage Concealer- it has two shades that you can also mix and match to conceal blemishes. I’ll have to check out the other products too!

Just started using that Laura Mercier concealer and am loving it! Thanks for this post

Skinfood Salmon Darkcircle Concealer. Moisturizing (really contains salmon oil), covers well (especially formulated to cancel out the blue and purple tones of undereye circles), and under $10.

I like Benefit’s “Fake-Up.” It comes in several shades and it’s like a concealer surrounded by a moisturizer in a lipstick shape, so you just swipe it and blend it and go.

@Mrs. Schoolbus: I also heard wonders about Laura Mercier camouflage concealer!
@Mrs. Juice: Yay, glad to help!
Gotta try out these other ones too! It’s hard when Sephora or Amazon doesn’t carry them but I think I should expand my horizons
