For a long time after having Jackson, I didn’t read any books…ever. I just didn’t have the time! However, lately I’ve started to get back into reading a bit in the evenings on my Kindle – I’m super slow because I never make it more than 20 minutes or so before I start nodding off, but it’s better than nothing. I’ve been really into reading non-fiction and lifestyle books lately, and I’ve got a giant list of want-to-reads on my wish list at the library.

Here’s a peek at some of the books I’m hoping to read in the next several months:

Books-Collage

1) The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin: I’ve heard so many fabulous things about this book, and it really lines right up with my goals for 2015 – to spend more time being content and enjoying life, and less time stressing!

2) The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo: Does this one even need an explanation? It seems like everyone is talking about this book, and I’m always looking for ways to de-clutter my house. I’m all over this one!

3) The 7-Minute Marriage Solution by Stephen Arterburn: I’m very into books about marriage right now – I love reading about ways to make our relationship stronger and build a better marriage. This one sounds right up my alley.

4) Hardwiring Happiness by Rick Hansen: I’m a huge believer in psychology and how we can “train” our brains to be more positive. I’m very interested to see what this book has to say about that!

5) Tiger Babies Strike Back by Kim Wong Keltner: I haven’t read the Tiger Mom book yet (I need to add that to my list too!), but I’m so interested in this book that was written by someone raised by a “tiger mom.”

6) The Book of New Family Traditions by Meg Cox: I’m big on family rituals and traditions, so I’m excited to read this one and get some ideas for new things we can add to our repertoire.

7) 5 Simple Steps to Take Your Marriage From Good to Great by Terri L. Orbuch: Another marriage book that I’ve heard great things about!

8) It’s Not You, It’s the Dishes by Paula Szuchman and Jenny Anderson: I hear this one is incredibly honest, funny, and refreshing.

9) I Was a Really Good Mom Before I Had Kids by Trisha Ashworth: This is one that’s been on my to-read list for a long, long time. It’s all about letting go of being a “supermom” and enjoying just being a regular ol’ mom.

10) Boomerang Kids by Carl Pickhardt: This book sounds fascinating to me – it’s all about how many young adults today aren’t actually ready to be independent and live on their own, and talks about how parents can help them get ready for that big transition. It’s definitely a “looking forward” kind of book since we’re nowhere near this phase, but as a teacher who works a lot with transitioning high schoolers, I’m fascinated with this topic!

11) Good Kids, Bad Habits by Dr. Jennifer Trachtenberg: I’m all about reading research on food, nutrition, and health and how I can help my kid be a better eater and a healthy person as he gets older. Jackson is right in the middle of an incredibly picky phase, so I’m hoping this one will give me some insight on what I can do to help him create good habits!

12) No-Drama Discipline by Daniel J. Siegel and Tina Payne Bryson: I can’t get enough of learning more about behavior, so this book is perfect for me…and very timely, since Jackson is all about the drama these days!
