LeLe will be two in January and she is really starting to learn at a rapid pace. Every day she has new words and can identify more and more concepts. For Christmas/Birthday this year, we decided to bolster that learning by selecting some gifts that are both fun and educational so we can double up our efforts. We’ve identified the things that she is already showing interest in like cooking, Disney characters, and animals, and I found some items that relate to these things that are also great for learning too.

1) Mickey Mouse Wooden Shape Sorting Clock –  This is sweet because it combines three different concepts: time, counting and shapes.  Plus, it’s Mickey so I know it will be a big hit!

2) Disney’s Little Einsteins: Animal Expedition – LeLe loves Little Einsteins so this would be a nice dvd to have around for the times when I need a break, but I don’t want her watching hours of mindless television. I like Little Einsteins because they are interactive and they also teach a lot of great basic skills. They also feature classical music and art in each episode, so the hope is that she is picking up some of that knowledge as well.

3) Mickey Wooden Alphabet Magnets – LeLe is just starting to really understand how letters work, so these magnets are perfect for us. I’ll throw them onto the fridge and let her go to town.

4) Counting Cookies – I saw this and thought it would be perfect for LeLe because it combines her love of cooking with fun food items.

5) Melissa and Doug Cutting Fruit Set –  This will be one of her birthday gifts to encourage her to use the cooking set we are getting her for Christmas.

6) Mickey Mouse Flash Cards – I love this set of learning cards. It covers the basics, and it is Mickey Mouse, so LeLe will love it.

7) Brain Quest – I had Brain Quests as a kid and I loved them. I got this beginner set for LeLe and for my nephew so they can learn together.

8) Wipe Clean: Early Learning Activity Book – This book seems like a great activity for our quiet times. I’m thinking some wind down time before naps or even for in the car.

9) Self-Correcting Number Puzzles – I love Melissa and Doug items. They are well built and they are always so fun and bright.

10) Deluxe Cooking Kit – LeLe loves to help me in the kitchen, so we decided to get her a cooking set so she can cook along side me.
