Hello, hello! I am so excited to be joining the Hellobee tribe. I have absolutely loved reading the parenting journeys of so many others on Hellobee over the past few years, and am excited to join in and share my own journey as Mrs. Washi Tape as well.
Mr. Washi and I got married straight out of college and set up house in Virginia with a truck full of thrift store furniture and a huge supply of rose-colored glasses. This summer will mark our twelve year anniversary – an accomplishment I am incredibly proud of.
Our parenting journey began seven years ago when we tossed out the birth control and began impatiently waiting for a positive pregnancy test. (Rose colored glasses were still in full effect at that point.) The journey to becoming parents did not look anything like I imagined, but finally four years later, out first baby was born. Lil Washi is a three year old ball of energy. He is beautiful and hilarious and smart, but overshadowing it all is his energy! His absolute favorite thing to do is to literally run laps around the house.
Of course when we were ready for baby number two, things continued on the same tumultuous path until finally Baby Washi was born last summer. So far pretty much nothing about having two has gone the way I imagined. It has been both easier and harder than I expected in a thousand different ways. My little washi baby is almost seven months old now. He has a smile that can light up any room and he reminds me daily how very much I am needed!
For the past ten years, I have been a school counselor, but last summer I took the leap to become a stay at home mom. It was hugely scary, both because of the financial risk and the fact I had absolutely no idea what I was doing. I didn’t even know any stay at home moms to get an idea what it looked like! But we took the leap and I am happier with that decision than I could have ever imagined.
When I’m not busy enjoying my two boys, I love to craft, tackle DIY projects, and basically do anything creative. I’ve spent the last several years working to make our outdated home into a personal retreat for our family full of color, style, and lots of unique touches. It seemed like the name Mrs. Washi Tape was the perfect fit!
I’m going to be sharing about our journey trying to conceive and dealing with recurrent miscarriages as well as our current parenting triumphs and struggles with our two unpredictable boys. I’m also planning to share some of my school counseling insight like how to figure out your child’s learning style and how to get results when you are having a problem with the school. And finally, there’s no way I can resist throwing in some of my favorite DIY creations for my little people! Thank you for joining me in this journey; I can’t wait to get started!

@wrkbrk: Washi tape is just really cute colorful tape. It’s usually more for making cute stuff than actually sticking things together!

Welcome. I’m in Virginia also. I have a three year old and a six month old, however mine are girls. We also had IF issues. My two have been an interesting ride but I wouldn’t trade them for anything,
