Baby Shake is almost 4 months old, and Cubby is a few months away from 3 years, and we are just now beginning the big room switch—Cubby’s room needs to be transformed into a big-boy room and baby Shake will move into his own nursery. Currently, Cubby is still in his crib and the baby sleeps in a bassinet in our room (I’ll get into the logistics of why we kept this arrangement for a bit in a later post).
We are recycling the crib and furniture from Cubby’s room into Shake’s nursery, so Cubby will need a bed and possibly some extra furniture. We don’t have a big budget for these rooms, so I’m working hard to re-purpose a lot of what we have at home.
Cubby is completely obsessed with animals, and my parents gifted him these sheets for Christmas. Using those as inspiration, I settled on a loose jungle/explorer theme for his big boy room. I love for the kids’ rooms to be cozy/comfortable, and not over the top or too cluttered. Here is some of what I have gathered as inspiration:
1) Welcome to the Jungle Bedding | 2) Platform Bed with Underbed Storage | 3) Walrus Throw Pillow | 4) Zebra Throw Pillow | 5) World Map Rug | 6) Vintage Circus Dream Blanket | 7) World Map Art Print | 8) Gray Armchair | 9) Wild & Free Lion Print | 10) Wander Print | 11) Safari Drawer Knobs | 12) Forestry Hook | 13) Safari Wallpaper | 14) Watercolor Elephant Print | 15) Lion Laundry Hamper
Not pictured above, but we’ll also add a Double Safety Bedrail to the bed.
I’m excited to get this room together, and have a few DIY projects in mind, as well! When we get the room together, I’ll be sure to post a reveal.
Does your little one’s room have a theme? What are some of your favorite kid room finds?

I love the inspiration but I wish you had labeled this as “little kid’s room” as this would be a delightful option for little girls too.

Target just came out with their new kids decor line called Pillowfort, and it’s really really good. They have a lot of animal themed pieces that are really reasonably priced!

We attempted to put similar rails up when our two year old transitioned to a twin. His bed doesn’t have a box spring and we found the rails all required box springs. Without the rails, we only had one night where he rolled out onto the pillows we had set on the floor. After that, we’ve not had any incidents. Good luck!

@Kirsten Eek! I can’t believe I did that! (Though, the reason I did is because I have a little boy and the room is for him). I’ll ask for that to be changed; thanks for bringing it up! I’d have loved a room like this as a little girl.
