When shopping for my kids’ clothes I have a mission to save money, while still keeping the function and sense of style high. As my kids got older, I realized that less really is more. If I bought quality items, they lasted longer and in turn I didn’t have to buy as much/often. I began shopping for the kids in the same way I shop for myself: focusing more on really great key pieces that they wear day in and day out and filter in fun items along the way.

I discovered mini mioche, a Canadian children’s clothing company that designs and makes all their items locally in Toronto. They focus on being ethically made and organic, and it quickly became my favorite place to shop for my own kids’ basics — the items they wear again and again. Those are the items I really want to last, and often cheaper priced items don’t last the length of a kids’ wear and end up costing more in the long run. Also it’s really nice to have chemical-free, organic fibers on those little delicate bodies.

Over the past couple years I’ve had the amazing opportunity to design my very own line of organic children clothing with mini mioche. The relationship really did happen organically. The collaboration combined the reason why I shopped at mini mioche (ethically made, organic and best quality basics), and then we infused a little more of that trendy but also easy to wear every single day style (that I love) into it. We came out with a little unisex line named: Not So Basics. It’s a line of 6 little basics, that aren’t that basic. These clothes are made to stand the test of time, made ethically, but a little more fashion-y than regular basics.

organic kids clothingThe entire line (each style comes in a few different colors) is available only at mini mioche, which is a one stop shop for great shoes, basics, toys and baby necessities. And because I just love this little line so much, here are a few more snaps, including my own kids modeling some of the clothes!
